Peter, i think u need to check your power saver settings. It might be set to 15 minutes or less. If settings are correct, then try to update BIOS. Pls visit support.toshiba.com for US model or toshiba.ca/support for Canadian model to look for the updated BIOS version.

Try this Peter, i think it will work.

You have been very thorough in your fault finding, gone through everything that I could think of. Not heard of this before though.

A couple of possibilities:
Regular ticking, points to a hard drive bearing failing
Also, could be a wire or similar catching against the cpu fan

However, seeing as you investigated these, I suggest this could be related to an electrical short, possibly from the DC port on the motherboard, the flickering light on the charge led would bear this out. Try removing the case again, take it into a dark room and power on, look for small arcing across this area

The screen in black, but I get sound. Just replaced the bulb about 5 months ago. There is a green light that flashes, but not the red light. a couple of seconds after turning on the TV, I could hear...

Outside of the lamp failing, the main exhaust fan on the Left side facing the back of the set is common to fail, the set shuts down. But when this happen it always causes the red led on the front of the set to blink a code. If the green led continues to blink, I would inspect the lamp, if appears to be ok, reinstall it making sure that the inner door latch for the lamp is secure and tight.
When looking at the lamp, pay attention to the the bottom of the lamp stem where the bubble is. If you see a discolored, bulged out area on the bubble, the lamp is bad. I have seen this happen even on new lamps from Sony.
I hope this helps,

I have ac adapter plugged into the wall, and into the computer, the charge pack light is green, the battery is in the computer and the computer won't turn on at all

You probably have a bad or loose DC jack on the laptop:

Problem symptoms:

  1. Laptop randomly shuts down without any warning.
  2. Power LED and battery charge LED start flickering when you wiggle the power cord or the AC adapter tip on the back or your laptop.
  3. The battery will not get charged.
  4. When you plug AC adapter, the laptop appears to be dead and there is no LED activity at all (DC-IN jack on the system board is broken).

Ticking noise underneath the car approximately midway.

The sound you hear is the metal parts of your exhaust system and catalytic converter cooling down. Some cars are louder than others but the sound is perfectly normal.

Orange LED indicator on the "Power Ring"

From the sounds of things you have a bad RF Board. This is the board that controls the syncing of your controllers, as well as your ring of light. If there is someone in your area that fixes the RROD they may be able to replace your RF board as well. I'd be happy to do it, but shipping would be almost the same cost as the repair. Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 (not FI) funky sound after shut down

Hi, Yes it is an electric fuel pump and the ticking is the pump working. So if you hear the ticking your pump should be OK. After turning off the petcock and running the carbs dry the next time you turn it back on you should leave the kill switch on and turn the key on and wait till the ticking stops, turn the key off and back on and wait for the ticking to stop again. You should do this a couple of times to make sure the system fills. Normally you should always use your kill switch to turn off your engine. Also under normal conditions you will not hear the ticking as it only ticks a couple of times to fill the system once it is full. Good Luck to you, This should Fixya!

Toshiba satellite A60 no boot

We can only assume that because the cd drive operates then the motherboard is operating in part, although, the southbridge chip may be damaged, as the northbridge works memory etc. Maybe it is that the processor is fried as there is no fan and the system then shuts down. Toshiba are probably half way there with the answer, unless; they investigated further and decided it was not the processor but the motherboard.
