My trimmer head only comes off if I use a large set of pliers turning the head like the directions say. It would be impossible to do this with just my hands.

Will not start, no spark

try this test. take off the spark plug cap ( they unscrew ) snip a small piece off the ht lead ( as the metal inside will be chewed from the thread of the cap ) with a new cut hold the lead against any metal near it ( the cylinder head etc ) and pull it over. you should see a spark from the lead ? if you do you can replace the cap ( it will have new wire to screw into now ) and try fro spark at plug ( no spark new plug needed ) ..if you get no spark from the ht lead unscrew it from the coil and try a new lead

I am trying to replace the head on my TB575EC trimmer but can't remove the black inner spool. Any suggestions?

Unscrew the head's center bump-knob counterclockwise with your fingers. Pull the bump knob off and take the spool cover off the head. Slide out the spool and any remaining cutting line. Lift out the spring underneath the spool. Take out the slide washer. Unscrew the arbor bolt either clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on model, in the center of the trimmer head using the wrench. Take the entire head off the end of the shaft.

How do I replace the old head with a new one?

Your old head should simply unscrew from the gear box. You should not have to disassemble the head to get it off. Some models have a small hole above the gear box where you can insert a small screwdriver to lock the drive shaft so that the entire unit stops spinning. Keep in mind that some models have left-hand threaded heads while others have right-hand threaded heads. In most cases, you'll unscrew the head opposite of whichever way the head normally turns while you're trimming. This is by design so that the machine doesn't unscrew the head itself while you're using it. You can find replacement heads for most makes and models of trimmers at PartsBuggy.com.

I have a Conair GMT189CGB 13 piece styling trimmer how do I change the nose/ear trimmer? I have no idea how it snaps in? what a terrible design!

You do not need to unscrew anything. Instead, simply take the beard trimmer (with the beard shaving blade still screwed on) in your hand, with the power button and "CONAIR" logo facing you. Then, put your thumb under the shaving blade and apply force to pop it off. So, the shaving blade, and the top part of the unit that it's screwed into will simply pop off. Then, you simply align the nose/ear hair attachment, and snap it in to the beard trimmer unit.

How do I get the line head off so I can put the blade on?

Most trimmer heads simply unscrew from the shaft. You should see a hole above the trimmer head, in the gear box where you can insert a screwdriver or something to lock the shaft from spinning whie you unscrew it.

Some trimmer heads require you to disassemble the head and remove a clip on the inside to remove the head.

Replacing trimmer line with blade for stihl fs 90r trimmer

If you bought the trimmer new there should be a rod about 6" long and 1/8" thick. Above the trimmer head below the trimmer gearbox there is a hole. You have to put the rod in that hole and turn the head until that locks it from turning.

From there you can screw the trimmer head off by hand, or a strap wrench if it's really tight. It may be left hand threads.
