Question about Verge VMP508 CD Player
Posted by Anonymous on
The face does not come off it just flips down. the flex conector or ribbon will break at the face plate site leaving you with part of the screen working or not at all (and the unit still works you can't see any setings), worse the eject will not work you have to reset every time you change a cd. I'm looking for the part discription and part # to order it.

Hey Guys , I was wondering if the solution given over here helped you. I am also having the same issue and my display is somewhat gone. It sometimes comes up on tapping the screen which makes me feel that the solution proposed over here could be of help.

I had the same problem but the radio wasn't working, only the backscreen bluelight was working. At first I didn't saw there was a fuse on the yellow cable but the problem was here, change it and it will work.

I had the same cd player with the same problem when i hooked mine up too. But i used a different wire harness because it fit , but you have to use the one that comes with the dek and make sure all the wires are hooked up. and make sure that you hook them up right.

The following fix worked on a different radio, hope it does the trick for you. first of all - if you're still under warranty, or have no experience with opening up elctric devices, don't touch it. take it back to the shop, or to a pro. If you paid someone to install it for you recently, then you should consult that someone. here we go - If you pull the radio from the dash, you can unbolt the four 1/4" boltson each side of the radio and the entire front panel will come off(that was the case with mine, find what works in yours). You will find a flexible ribbon connector that connects the electronics which drive the display from the rest of the radio. Take that connector and clean the contacts with some contact cleaner and a q-tip, spray some contact cleaner in the "socket" end of the connector on the radio, too. Very good chance this will cure your troubles, it cured mine. IF THIS DOES NOT WORK, then you have suffered an electronic failure (as opposed to a mechanical failure...the most common type!) and will probably have to replace the entire radio. Of course, only the front half or back half is the problem, but I doubt its economical. Good luck
