Re: problem with panasonic tv
It is usually caused by problems from lead solder that sometimes does not connect, so there are some points of the components that are not connected with lead solder to the circuit. if it appears vertical line means from the IC (integrated circuit ) Vertical, you can solder all the points in the IC ( Integrated circuit ).

Actually I am not sure about this one, but I like to suggest to leave the unit running for at least 24 hours and see what happens. Going by the amount of time it has not being used it is hard to tell what actually occurs, the advice is to leave it on standby for any period of time. See what happens anyway, you can't do anymore damage than you already got can you? Else, keep switching it on and off, it may clear it that way. If you are able get a update on-line, re-program you tv it worked for my Samsung 39 inch. Good Luck
Other than taking the television to a repair shop not much can be done. I recommend a new television. Excellent brands are Sony, and Samsung. Both brands are quality televisions. Best of all you can order them on Amazon.com for lower prices.
do the proper isolation proceedure and try unhooking the Su from the SC board to see if you then get a normal picture all the way across the bottom half of the screen? I am assuming the Vertcal extends extends all the way from top to the bottom of the screen?
Do you have access to a test pattern or color bar ? .If you have a THX certified DVD ( some Walt Disney movies ) it will have calibration setup guide in the DVD menu.Or else you have to buy a calibration DVD if you are serious about your TV setup. First you have to set the contrast and brightness using the Grey-scale pattern. Seven set of vertical bars slowly progressing from white to black. If set right you should be able to make out all the seven bars with out each merging ( or overlapping ) into the other. You will be able to see the line of demarcation between each vertical bars. Then set the color to taste. If you do not want to purchase the above mentioned DVD disc a close setup figure for your Panasonic TV would be Picture Mode = Standard ( Normal ) Picture ( Contrast ) ---- 50 Brightness ---------------- 50 Color ------------------------ 33 Sharpness ---------------- 50 Hue ------------------------- In the middle This setting should give you a decent picture quality assuming your TV is new.
