Question about Zenith XBS444 System

Progressive Scan When set it on dvd the screen turns blue and it says progressive scan. I can hear the movie being played but the screen is just blue with the writing. Is there a way i can fix it?

    When i press home menu,GUI will appear on dvd player display,i dont know what problem .

    The progressive scan mode is on and when I go to Setup, no menu appears, the screen stays blue with "progressive scan mode".

    The previous solution offered states that I try to select "composite" instead of "component", but I can't access anything on the setup menu...it is unavailable (can't see anything).

SOLUTION #1
you'll need to reset. press stop to stop any playing disc, and press stop again holding it for 5 seconds to reset the system.

works with remote only

SOULTION #3
While Disc is Running,
By using remote control,
Press Stop Button once to stop the disc (Stop in Memory Mode)
Press Stop Button once again to go into Full Stop
Then, Press & Hold Stop Button for 5 Second or So.

Check for video out in the dvd setup menu, and set it for composite, It may be set for component. another thing to try is setting the the progressive scan option off in the setup menu, you wont benefit from it, but at least it might work. if you already tried using the prog scan and your T.V isnt compatible, you'll need to reset. press stop to stop any playing disc, and press stop again holding it for 5 seconds to reset the system. good luck!

THANK YOU so much sillygirl my parents didn't believe me when I said it was the Bose system and not the plasma TV itself so I went online for some troubleshooting and you helped us out THANKS AGAIN!!!

Hi, you must hold 1st remove the disc (if you have one in) then hold down the STOP which is just under the RECORD button. Hold it for about 6 to 8 seconds. That should clear it.

This happened to me & I finally found a manual online that I could download.

Here's what the manual says:

"If you set Progressive Scan to On in error, you must reset the unit.

1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray. See that "NO DISC" is displayed on the display window.

2) Press STOP and hold it for five seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and a picture will once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor."

I was playing with settings on my Zenith xbv342 and set the menu to progressive scan. I now have a blue screen with the words "progressive scan mode" I cannot get a picture and it is stuck in this m


Progressive scan mode is used by DVD players to artificially scale standard resolution DVDs to HD resolution, usually 720i. Is your set capable of receiving HD resolution? If not, that is probably why you are getting the blue screen.

ur dvd is in progressive scan mode. u have to get out of that setting ,because ur TV dosen't supports the progressive scan. do the following to get out of the progressive scan mode.

1. power ON the dvd.
2. press stop button to stop any disc that is playing.
3. press stop again and hold it for five seconds.

the video out will be restored to the standard settings.

If you have not already seen this or done it - it worked for us:

On page 18 of the user manual under Progressive scan there is a Caution which says - If you set Progressive Scan to On in error, you must reset the unit. 1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray. See that "dISC " is displayed on the display window. 2) Press STOP (9) and hold it for more than five seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and a picture once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

Your television probally does not support progressive scan mod. many do not.

Cannot remove progressive scan mode


I turned on the dvd player and pressed down on the play button and counted to 10, but before I got to 10 the progressive light went of and the image on my tv set came back on.

SD-K530SU - Turning Off Progressive Scan Mode


Once the setting for Progressive Scan output is entered,
an image will only be visible on a Progressive Scan compatible
TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan to On in
error, you must reset the unit. Pointing the remote at the
player, press the STOP (x) button to stop any disc that is
playing. Next, press the STOP (x) button again and hold it
for five seconds before releasing it. The video output will
be restored to the standard setting, and a picture will once
again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

unplug it and plug it back in and press the progressive button to turn it off, should work. Yeah that blue screen sucks, i would have thought you can get to the menu no matter what but that's sanyo for you, well most other brands also...

PROGRESSIVE SCAN STILL ON- BLUE SCREEN ONLY


Cause: DVD+VCR was turned off while setting the Progressive scan mode. Correction: Keep pressing the STOP button for more than 5 seconds.
