I tried removing the battery, but it did not help. This was working fine last night, but this morning, the tape deck won't open. How do I open to try and clean it?

Hello.
1. Completely remove battery and then restore it and try.
2. If you here sound of engine when camera wants to open door but can`t shake door by hand.
If problem persist you need to open it inside and clean it.

Won't except tape...door will not close when a tape is inserted..door will close with no tape..any idea where to get repair and cost? Thanks

This is usually caused by a defective component in the tape detection circuitry and will require disassembling the camera to repair. This can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. The camcorder will not accept a tape. without a tape, the thing will open and close. With a tape, it will beep and the motor spins, but it will not receive the tape.

hey pls put your cam with the 60 watt blub which can produce heat and put it like cabinet about 1 hours! it will solve it !

I have an Elura 90. The cassette door opens but

When ejecting the tape you must hold the eject switch down for a full second. There are two stages to the eject process just as there are with the insertion of a videocassette. Hold the button in position long enough to hear the motor mechanism start.

Thick stripes on the recording on mini dv tapes

Stripes are either caused by -
Bad tape - try a new tape
Dirty tape head - can it be cleaned? Cotton wool bud and some metho?
Electronic fault.
Try a different tape first.
If that doesn't help, clean the head. Is it under warranty?

Cassette won't eject!

I have had this problem too. I got it to open by pressing my hand against the tape mechanism then slightly closing the lid and re-opening it. This doesn't always work the first time.Once it is open run a tape head cleaner and it should fix it for a while.

Canon Elura 65 Camcorder Refuses to Load Mini DV Tape

Try a different tape in case the take up isn't working in the previous tape.

Clean the tape heads with a tape cleaner in case there is buildup on the pinch rollers causing the tape to jam or slip.

If those solutions don't work, you should take it into a repair shop to have a closeup view as to what the problem is unless you see something obvious like a spring broken or loose or a bent piece or foriegn objects in the deck.

Canona Elura 60 problem...

What a hunk of junk. Not a month after the warranty period expired, my Elura 60 would zoom out without warning and refused to stay zoomed in. I paid Canon to fix that problem.

Now, I'm on vacation (in the Carribean for more than 24 hours) and the unit wouldn't accept a tape. Every time I tried to load a tape, it would beep five times and then kick the tape out. So I tried taking all of the batteries and media out. That didn't work.

Next, I tried the drop method. I figured the unit is broken and I'm not going to pay again to get it fixed, so dropping it couldn't break it anymore than it already is. I let the unit fall onto the throw rug in the bathroom. In then tried to install a tape. Waddyaknow! It worked.

I can only reiterate again two things: dropping the camera from about 6" onto a carpeted surface over a tile floor seemed to clear up my "remove the cassette" problem, and the Elura 60 is a temperamental hunk of junk (although the recordings and playback are pretty good, when you can actually get a tape into the unit).
