Question about EPoX EP-8K9A Motherboard

Hello again Thanks for your previous message... although I can't do some of the things listed in method 2 or 3... I put the disk in and it obviously recognises it as it says "press any key to boot from CD" .... but it doesn't respond when I press any key....same as it won't restart when I press ctrl alt del (as it says to).... it seems strange to me as I can get the bios up (by the keyboard) and the boot first screen up.... but when we get into the booting screen, it seems completely unresponsive to the keyboard... the keyboard is a packard bell one which is plugged in using USB... could it be the keyboard somehow? I personally doubt it... but what next???! can you come round? lol!

Hehe I prolly could, depending on where you are, but it would cost a fortune ;o) The problem you've got is that it's a USB keyboard (the system will recognize it for the BIOS, but not for anything else until drivers are loaded, which aren't done prior to the OS loading). You'll need to obtain a PS2 keyboard for this.

I turn on my hp pavilion zd7020us the hp page boots up then goes to safe mode or normal mode page then goes to a very quick blue screen and turns off and starts the whole process over again any ideas


So many computer face this blue screen fetal errors on windows.

This error comes usually when there is problem in software or driver compatibility issue with hardware or operating system.
Also this error comes when there is bed indexing unit in hard drive.
You can solve this errors with following 2 methods.
(1)When you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
Then if you are able to enter in safe mode then uninstall driver or software which you installed recently and face this error.
(2)If you are not able to enter in safe mode Then you need to fix error on hard drive.For that you need windows disk or recovery disk.
Boot your computer with that disk
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom.
Then save settings and exit bios.
Insert windows disk in cd /dvd rom.
Then it boot with that disk.Then you get this message "Press any key to boot from cd.."
Then press any key.
Then follow the procedure then enter in recovery console mode then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
Then type "y"
Then it fix error on hard drive.
Then check if again you are not able to enter in windows then boot again and this time choose "R" option for repair previous windows " then it repairs old windows then it loads again old windows.

How can I reset the BIOS


You can reset bios with 2 methods.
(1) Pull CMOS cell from motherbord for 10 minutes.
Then power up the computer 2 times.
Then all settings are defaults.
Then reseat the cell.

(2)You can RESET all settings with jumper settings.
Find jumper on mothebord named "Clear Cmos" It has 3 pins 1-2-3
Set jumper in 2-3 position then power up the computer then again put jumper in 1-2 position then all settings of bios are RESET.

Can't create RAID


It sounds like you have created an install disk. It also sounds like you pressed F6 to install additional drivers. Your install disk probably has 2 drivers on it. You must install them separately. So--you will have to tell the install program twice to install each driver in turn. Once you do that, it should work.

Have a Dell laptop, about 4 years old, try to start it up, goes to the Windows XP Pro screen then to a blue screen stating that the computer must be started in one of the startup options listed, however...


In those list of options is an option like
"Disable automatic restart on system failure"

Select that and then boot the laptop .. it should reboot and stop at an error screen

Let me know what it says

The file name in the second line of the error message, WUSB54GCx86.sys, is an example of a driver file that might be causing the error.

This article discusses seven methods for resolving the problem. The first method is designed for beginning to intermediate computer users. The other six methods are designed for advanced computer users.

Because this article contains steps that involve restarting your computer, you might find it easier to follow the steps if you print this article first.


CAUSE
This issue might occur if a system thread generates an exception that the error handler does not catch. Method 1: Make sure that you have sufficient hard disk space loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution');First, make sure that you have sufficient hard disk space. The Stop error can be caused by insufficient hard disk space.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the video adapter drivers: 1. If a driver is listed by name in the Stop error message, disable or remove that driver. • If the error occurs during the startup sequence and the system partition uses the NTFS file system, you might be able to use safe mode to rename or to delete the faulty driver. • If the driver is used as part of the system startup process in safe mode, you must use the Recovery Console to start the computer. 2. If the Stop error message does not indicate a specific driver, update the video adapter drivers to the latest versions. 3. Disable or remove any drivers or services that you recently added. 4. Check the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) to determine whether the PCI devices in the computer are compatible with Windows XP. Restart the computer. 5. Continue the Windows Setup program. You can add the driver files back to the computer one at a time to identify the faulty driver.
Method 6: Remove third-party remote control servicesIf you still have the problem after you use the previous methods and the Stop error message contains the Win32k.sys file name instead of a driver file name, the problem might be caused by a third-party remote control program. To remove the service, use the Recovery Console to start the computer and then delete the third-party remote control service file.

Please remove the jumper on the SATA drive. Boot to the bios & see if the SATA drive is listed. If it is you're good. If this is the first SATA you have tried in the Asus board & my suggestion also failed to show the SATA drive you are left with two options.
One the SATA drive is defective or the SATA motherboard controller is bad. You can call Asus tech M-F 8:00AM to 5:00PM EDT. At 1-812-282-2787, there is little wait time when calling Asus tech. Asus does not charge you for calling them.

Consistent hard Drive BOOT ERROR after an upgrade to MSNV-939 motherboard


You can run a disk manager for your drive however, I'll bet you will find its windows boot.ini. It may read just fine for a dual boot system but think about this. Windows can get confused real quick. I'm talking about the regestry. Take the time and do a fresh install of your Linuex and than re-install windows "clean install". I'll bet everything works out just fine. When 1 changes MB's there is a whole list of new drivers PCI devices loading into windows. Your system will run better with one copy of drivers for your new board and windows will not carry a list of old drivers and PCI devices of your old board.

Invalid boot.ini


One of these two methods should fix your problem......... -------------------------- go to run and type in MSCONFIG. Then click on the "Boot.ini" tab. First, make sure if using XP Pro that the following is listed: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect - this is the boot.ini information from XP, straight from the Microsoft Web Site. All the information below [operating systems] should be on one line! If you have a blank boot.ini file, copy and paste this information - if all information is already there, then don't change anything. Next, click the button that says "check all boot paths". You should get back a message stating that everything is good (the computer checks to make sure the boot.ini file is compatible with Microsoft Operating Systems). Next, assuming your computer likes the boot.ini file that is in there (and it should), then click the button that says "set as default". By doing this, you have now created a new (modified) boot.ini file that is a carbon copy of the original. Click apply. You will be prompted to restart. Before doing so, go back to MSCONFIG and in the general tab you will see that "use modified boot.ini" should now be checked. During reboot, you should not get the invalid boot.ini message (at least I didn't). What you will get is a message (after reachign the desktop) stating that you are not using the defaults or something like that and do you wish to go back into MSCONFIG to restore the default settings.
