Wireless Function Light Will Not Allow Computer To Boot

Okay I have a problem and if someone can help me fix it, I would be most greatful. I have an Everex VA 4101M day I was writing an email and the screen went out and the fan kicked into high. Shut off and rebooted. Worked okay for while. Now I have the problem that when I push the power button and the lights flash if the wireless function light stays on it won't let the computer boot. If it goes off during boots and all is right with the world. Help!!! How can I fix this???

I can't even get it to come on to do that. If that light comes on when it is trying to boot it wont come on. I can't get it to go off like it used to.

My guess is that you may have gotten a serious virus. Try running your Antivirus aoftware and, if a virus is detected, use your Antivirus software to clean it. If not, then you can either try a System Restore; or backup your files and reformat the hard drive and reinstall a fresh new copy of your Windows Operating System.

Well see if you can boot it from your cd/dvd drive. If you can, and if you have either the computer's Operating System Restore Disk, or an Operating System disk that you had purchased, then try reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling the Operating System. If this doesn't work, I am sincerely sorry. I have never ran across this type of problem before. If you can get on another computer, try going to your computer manufacturer's web site and in their search box, type out the type of problem that you are having. You can also view their FAQ page, and/or go to their support page and see if they either have a tech support page or an email address to contact their tech support people. If you go to their tech support page, and if they have an option where you can chat online with them in order to get assistance, try doing that. You might also have spyware on your system. Also, another option is, if you have another computer and can access the internet, you can google the type of problem that you are having and see what comes up. I hope these options helped you further.

I recently got the Gateway NV52L15U Laptop and the Wi-Fi has been working fine. Yesterday when I got on the computer it would not let me connect saying I need to "Turn on wireless capability." When I go to...

Okay, i finally have found a solution to this problem, it may sound crazy but hear me out and give it a try. Turn the computer off and turn it back on(admittedly i stumbled upon this trying to enter the bios settings). Then proceed to hold down the function key and press all the buttons on the top line of the keyboard (you probably only need to press the wireless button but hit all to be sure). the computer will idle and take a little longer to come on but when it does the wireless should be working fine again. Also try pressing them all without holding the function key to ensure.

Okay, first things first. Unplug everything except for the power cord. Make sure the floppy drive (if you have one) and CD-ROM drive are empty. Go into your computer BIOS settings and make sure that the computer is set to boot from your hard drive first. (Depending on the computer, usually holding down F2, F4, F6, F8, or even other function buttons will allow you to do this. Not all of the buttons at once, but just hold each one down when you start the computer until the BIOS comes up). If this doesn't work, your Hard Drive is either corrupted, all information has been deleted, or simply came loose over time. You may be able to fix this yourself. The easiest solution is to reformat your computer using the original disks your computer came with. You can also use a licensed copy of Windows disk.

If you have information to recover, I would look into Bart's PE Builder (google it), although that requires another computer. If you have access to another computer there are many boot disks that you can download or buy.

If none of these work, try getting your computer into DOS mode. It's much harder with XP and Vista, but Windows ME and earlier it should be an option. simply type C:\ at the prompt, cd windows, dir/w. This will tell you if windows is still there. At least then you'll know your options. If windows is gone, the only way to get it back is to reinstall it. I hope something in here helps someone.

My computer no longer has the wireless info in it

Okay - right click on the "PCI Modem" and select "Update Driver" - and reinstall the Wireless Driver. If that doesn't work, use the Windows Restore function to roll the system back to the last time the wireless worked. If that doesn't fix it, then the wireless function has probably died. You'll need to get a wireless network PCMCIA card for your laptop and use that to connect.
