Whirlpool LER5644EQ2 Electric Dryer that won't start

I can't get my whirlpool electric dryer to start. The model number is LER5644EQ2. My breaker is not tripped and the door sensor seems to be working fine. The timer will run while the unit is plugged in but when you press the start button I get a click from the start button and nothing happens. Could this be a fuse in the dryer and where can I find it?

Thanks,
Paul Birk I can't get my whirlpool electric dryer to start either. The model number is YLEQ5000PW1. My breaker is not tripped. Might therre be a reset Button?

Regarding model LER5644EQ2, here is a link to a parts website complete with an assembly drawing and parts list. In all probability, you have a blown thermal fuse and that will need replacing http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php
Item #23 on the drawing .. a quick test would be to ( with power removed or disabled) measure the resistance across the two terminals and it should not be an open circuit or it is blown. The drawing shows exactly where it is and the parts list shows the item number/ cost and where to buy a replacement. Hope this helps..

Regarding model number is YLEQ5000PW1, you may have the same problem with your thermal fuse.. the parts website does not show a detailed darwing of your model but it should be similar to the other one I've cited in the location and thermal fuse.. The link I am sending is for the parts list for your washer and the thermal fuse.. http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php

Let me know if that isn't the problem and we can look at other ways to zero in on a solution..
Hope this helps...
Regards...

I have a LEQ9030PQO, When you turn it on the heating element heats up, but will do nothing else. Could the on/off switch be defective? I took off the switch and sandpapered the terminals, but nothing.

thanks.

Try some repair videos on YouTube. Usually the problem you have is real simple, like thermal fuse is blown or maybe even just a blown breaker

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Electric dryers aren't very complicated. Here are some common symptoms that you may experience with your dryer:

There's an error code on the digital display

It doesn't work at all
There's no heat
It won't tumble
Drying is too slow
It overheats
It seems to run forever
It's noisy
It won't start
The light doesn't work
It blows fuses or trips the circuit breaker
My clothes smell bad!
My clothes are marked or torn

I just bought a whirlpool electric dryer and it won't work, it is plugged in and hooked up to the vent.

Is the circuit breaker turned on? Most people turn 220 v outlets off if not being used.

It's more than likely either the thermal fuse, or the door switch.

Whirlpool model no LEB6200KQ0 will only dry on the Very Dry Cycle. I have to run on the timer dry 3 to 4 times to get the clothes dry.

Judging from the model number, this is an electric dryer. There can be several things wrong with it. I would start with the vent. Make sure it is not clogged (especially at the end) or kinked behind the dryer. Also, check your breaker. Electric dryers can run with one half of the 220v breaker tripped. Try switching the breaker to the off position and then back on. That may solve your problem, but if it returns, you will need a qualified electrician or appliance service tech to see where the problem is originating. If neither of these help, you will need a tech to see whats going on inside the dryer. hope this helps

DRYER HEATING ELEMENT

Kenmore dryers are manufactured by Whirlpool. In many cases the part numbers are identical between model numbers. Look at the dimensions of the heating element and compare part numbers. Chances are, the parts are identical.
