Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC08. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC08 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=300&product=DC08-SY-STD

The correct way to wash the filter is shown in the video below. The filter should be washed in cold water without any detergent, at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it.

By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 - our Helpline is open from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

Jack

Kenmore model 11628015700 suction motor won't run

Sometimes a motor will get a stuck carbon brush. Remove the motor from the machine and spray it around the carbon brushes with lectra motor cleaner. Do this outside FYI. This is a CRC product.
Next try hooking it up to a pair of leads, gator clips etc.. than you can plug into an electrical outlet to test it before reinstalling it. If it pops and sputters your motor is gone. PS Kenmore parts run 150 percent of outher brands so when you go to replace it maybe look at a manufactures brand directly. IF you can not disassemble the machine you can tap with medium force around the motor housing with a rubber mallet. Plug the machine in and turn it on while you tap the housing. Sometimes you will hear the motor come to life as the brush is knocked free.

What to do when your vacuum brush stops spinning

Household vacuums come in all shapes and varieties, but many of them are similar on the inside. There is often a brush running across the length of the vacuum's nozzle, and it spins as the vacuum runs to help **** up debris. But sometimes the brush will stop running, and you'll notice a severe decline in your vacuum's performance.

Usually when the brush stops spinning, it's because something inside the vacuum is binding it up. Dirt can get lodged inside, and hair can get wrapped around a shaft. If there is too much pressure, the drive belt can even snap.

You can usually see and clean the brush just by turning the vacuum upside down, but to get to the other internal parts you have to take the vacuum apart. On canister vacuums, this is usually pretty easy because it's just the nozzle that needs to come apart. Full-size vacuums can be taken apart as well, but the process can sometimes be more involved.

If you can get the nozzle or the vacuum's base apart and get to the parts inside, you should see the brush (which is part of a long shaft), a drive belt, and some sort of mechanism that drives the brush, which is commonly a paddle or a motor.

Hair can get caught up in any of these components and cause them to not be able to spin, as can dirt and other debris. If you clean all of the components out and put the vacuum back together, it should work just fine. The brush, over time, may become frayed or damaged, and the drive belt sometimes will snap, but otherwise a good cleaning will usually make your vacuum run as good as new.

Whistle noise from filter

Try moving the filter a little while it is running. This is a common problem caused by the air bypassing the filter. The more clogged the filter is the more it will whistle but sometimes it will whistle with a new filter. Sometimes you may get it stopped for a while but then it will start up again or come and go.

The water is not spraying out of the nozzel when I start to clean from my little green. Any suggestions and can i fix it?

Be sure there are no holes in the pipeline that run from the input to the nozzle. Try running it under hot water. Sometimes the chemicals and dirt get in there and dry up at the holes.

The powerhead on my Hoover Duros will not keep running. If I push the on/off switch it will come back on sometimes, other times when I push it it turns the whole thing off as its supposed to do.

I just had the same problem with my hoover duros, the vacuum was running fine but the powerhead kept going off. I would make a sweep with it and powerhead would be running and then next sweep powerhead would shut off. I had tried checking connection and belt, etc. I thought it was the powerhead. But then I found the problem. On the duros there are 2 pieces of wands that hook powerhead to hose on canister. They both connected and clicked in fine but I decided to check them separately. I hooked just one piece to hose and powerhead and then turned it on and then I did the other piece. ta-dah! that's what it was...it was only one section of the wand. When I hooked them up separately, one piece the powerhead worked totally fine and vacuumed like normal. When I removed that piece of wand and tried the second piece (actually the bottom section when both are hooked together) the powerhead did not work at all. So I just need to get a new section of wand. Hope this helps!

Water will not run thru coffee maker after descaling

Descaling sometimes results in the scaling that in being removed causing a blockage in the drain system. The best way to resolve this is to run your coffee maker (normal operation); however, rather thanusing water, you should use vinegar. This will dislodge and break up the scaled paricles and allow your coffer maker to function correclty.

My iRobot Roomba runs for about ten minutes, then shuts off. I can keep pushing the clean button and it will run for another ten minutes and stop again. Nothing seems to get clean.

Take the brush rolls out and you should see a copper disc. It is the dirt sensor. Clean it with Windex or some other cleaner. This works sometimes.

The motor won't run. There was interupted running

What model#? Plus check to see if their is a reset switch, sometimes on hoover the switches do go bad, but if the unit is new could be still under warranty

Roomba charged (new battery just installed) and won't run

Charging circuit on the roomba will sometime stop the unit from running. Just repaired one the other day doing just that. (Replace the main board, if you don't haave electronic repair skills, or the equipment to do it)

Bissell 1770 Quicksteamer Lightweight: the solution doesn't come out of the steamer

Check the valve on the tank, push it in and see if water comes out ok. Check the rod, is it going up and down when you squeeze the trigger. Sometimes it breaks and won't depress the receiver to release the water, part #2035617. Or you may have a clogged line and sometimes running a mix of water and vinegar will clean them out.
