Question about PC Desktops
First of all, need to know what OS you are using, since it will make difference as to how you connect. If running WXP or W2K, then after you plug in the computer to the network, you will need to do the following:
1. Since it has not been on a network before, you wiill need to logon as a local administrator
2. Right-mopuse click on My Network places ans select PROPERTIES.
3. Right-mouse click on the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION icon ans select PROPERTIES. Select the TCP/IP option, then select PROPERTIES. Use either the DHCP option or the Static IP option depending on what your network is using (check with your network administrator). Use the ADVANCED tab to configure any DNS or WINS options. Close back to the Local Area Connection Ico area.
4. Make sure that nothing is highlighted, then slect the Network Identification Option (this is also avaialble under the Advanced Tab in the pull-down menues). Follow the steps to add the system to the network. You will need to have permissions to be able to add a copmuter onto the domain. If you don't have those permissions, then you will need to have someone with those permissions add the system for you.
