Windows reinstall

You know , you could just ask a friend for their cd or download one online

As long as you get the version and service pack number right it should be fine

And its perfectly legal , providing you use your own product key!

I need to reinstall XP media center on my Gateway PC

If you know somebody that has the same operating system disc (Windows XP Media Center Edition) you can use their CD to reinstall Windows and just use your product code number on your PC box.

When trying to open adobe reader 8.1.1 get following message: patch package could not be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify...

it sounds like the application that is needed to uninstall the version 8 is corrupted or missing. Try reinstalling version 8 first then uninstall it before loading version 9. If you can reinstall version 8 and it asks you if you want to repair or install, choose install to get all of the files back before uninstalling it again. Always uninstall from add/remove programs. If deleting it from program files instead of uninstalling it correctly it will cause problems.

DON'T NO MY SERIAL NUMBER

The serial number to what? On a PC it is usually on a sticker somewhere on the case (top, bottom, side, front) and on the original packing. Software serial numbers are also on the packaging. You could also try right clicking on My computer, select properties and your Windows product ID is displayed. Take your pick! Hope this helps.

Product key

You wont find a Microsoft Office product key on the back of your PC< this key will most likely on the original packaging your Office pack came with. The key on the back of your machine would be for your Operating System.
