What I could understand from your question is that your Driver softwares are not installed in your system.
Go to this site and click on 'Download drivers and software'

You will now get an option 'Select Operating System'. Click on the OS that you have installed in dc7700
Now download the following drivers Driver - Audio Driver - Chipset Driver - Graphics Driver - Modem Driver - Network
and install the same on your dc 7700. Now you will be able to play sound and also browse internet after you configure the LAN (TCP/IP) properties.

If your laptop uses the Intel chipset, download the Intel notebook video driver v6.14.10 otherwise, down load the nvidia video drivers

These should work. If you find you still can't play dvds consider downloading a third party open source video player (VLC videoplayer is excellent)

go to control panel if the sound driver installed properly and you can play the sound tests but dont heare anything ,there is a problem on mainboard's audio chipset or headphon jak.if not and ahen you play sounds you get an error message,have to reinstall a true audio driver on your laptop from the factory CDs or ...

Try these drivers to get the sound working:
UAA Driver:

Install the UAA driver first, Reboot and then install the sound Driver and reboot.

If you have any problems left in device manager after that:

PS If you install the LAN driver first you'll at least get internet working, then you can download the others straight onto the laptop.

Generally for PCI you need to install the communication driver for the dialup modem or the chipset driver. If you have any external PCI device connnected to the laptop you need to install the cd that came with that product

The sound driver and the wireless driver come along with the motherboard disk.you need to install them separately or if you dont have the disk or lost it by any chance, you can get the same version from another similar laptop with the same required drivers.This should help you out.

SOLUTION!!!

**Even though your computer may SAY that it is a Presario V2000, it may have an entirely different product number for downloading drivers specific to your particular configuration.**

1) Look at the serial code on the back/bottom of your computer: there is a number starting with p/n (ex. p/nEX664UA#APL) This code identifies your computer beyond the V2000 label.

2) Go to the compaq/hp website: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/welcome.html#Support

3) select "Download Drivers and software(and firmware)"

4) THEN, enter your P/N Instead of "Presario V2000" into the product name/number box, and hit enter.

Select your operating system, and you will be redirected to a page listing all the necessary drivers for your model.

On the left of your screen, you will see a box that says "your product" with a picture of a laptop, and a model number beneath it. THIS IS YOUR ACTUAL MODEL NUMBER (Mine was Compaq Presario V2610CA Notebook PC).

5) Download and install the drivers you need, and gappy geeking!!!
