If it looks the same, it is. Go ahead and switch them, but try the horn after you do it. If the horn still works, the relay is not your problem.

Won't be a problem, as long as it plugs in it will work.

Radiator fans randomly shut off

  • Relays carry high-amperage current controlled by a low-current switch
  • When a faulty relay is not replaced, the circuit will either be non-functional or remain engaged. here's your relay you need.

Horn blows repeatedly and highlights flash repeatedly for no reason.

try your remote batteries i would remove them from both remotes then reattach the batt cable if this dosen't work could be a bad alarm controller fan relay has nothing to do with it you need a new radiator fan thermo switch located on the radiator

The cooling fans are not coming on and it is overheating...We switched the horn relay with the radiator fan relay and the horn still worked and it still overheated...so dont think its that...What about...

hi.
the sensor is usually located on the side of the radiator. it is usually a srew in unit with 2 wires coming from it. just remove the wires, unscrew the old one, and screw the new one in and reconnect the wires. if you are lucky, you should not loose more than a cup of coolant either.
hope this helps

I can not get my cooling fan to start no matter how hot my 1991 corvette gets i took it to the shop and tthey ssaid they could force the fan on what's wrong?

well there can be three things wrong, If the mechanic actually umped hte fan then there can only be one of two things wrong with it. 1. the fan relay or the fan temperature switch. the relay is the easiest to test as you can just swap it out with the horn relay and try honking the horn. Horn works then its the fan temperature switch. Horn does not work it is the relay.

Good Luck

I have a 1997 Chrysler town and country I have 2 problems 1) cooling fan doesn't work and after troubleshooting , where exactly is the cooling fan relay? I have owners manual and Haynes manual and both say...

#1 Cooling fan relay may be mounted on the radiator fan itself or on the left side frame rail small circuit board looking with 2 screws holding it to frame near the radiator.
#2 your horn and cruise passes through the airbag clock spring, most likely the connection in the clockspring is open, replace it and you should be good

Cooling fan will not come on what can i check to fix this problem this is on a 1995 grand am 3.1 litre i also have a problem with the horn it wont work and the fuse is good.

The horn maybe a horn relay,or a bad horn,or the horn button .The cooling fans, check to see if they will come on with the ac on,if not, check the fuses, and the cooling fan relays,if the cooling fans come on with the ac,then change the coolant sensor.

Electric cooling fans only come on when air conditioner is on.

Hi, the relay for AC compressor/Horn are on the left as you look at the car from the front. in the middle are Blower/Hi/Low and On the right,Engine Fan High Engine Fan Low. You may have more or less relaysand they may not be in order.

They are located in the Power Distribution Centre under the hood up near the wipers on the left. The fuses and breakers are on top and the relays are on the bottom.

Find the horn relay because its reasy to honk the horn while you pull the relay that completes the circuit. The one that is dissconnected and the horn wont blow is a good relay. Check the power rating in Amps and switch with the fan relays. You can find the fan by unplugging the coolant temp sensor. This will make the fan run all the time on High Speed (a good temporary fix for traffic jam overheating) and unplugging relays untill the fan stops running

Good Luck.

Need to wire a toggle switch to the horn for it

Assuming you don't have any other problems to deal with like a bad horn relay, you would want to intercept the horn signal wire going up into the steering column and wire that to the switch such that it gets grounded by the switch when you want the horn to honk. Since a toggle switch could be left on for an extended amount of time, I would think a momentary switch of even a push button type might be a better choice?

The horn relay is used to allow for large current flow going to the horn itself without forcing that same amount of current to flow thru the horn switch in the steering wheel for example, which might be easily burnt out without the relay's buffering effects. Even a large macho toggle might not be able to handle a horn's current if used regularly. The load for a raw horn is highly inductive (arcing, sparking) in addition to being a very large current draw of 10 amps or better, both conditions tend to make kindling of everything but the most robust switches. Those switches when you do find them cost the big dollar$.

You might just need a horn relay, they do have a lot of work to do - they are allowed to wear out occasionally considering their use.
