Re: 2003 DYNA STARTER WON'T ENGAGE IF RUNNING 10...
This is going to be a great opportunity to learn about your bike. Whenever I buy a bike, I always buy a service manual for that model. This doesnt sound too serious, but may require some time. My guess is a loose connection, These things happen now and then. I would just trouble shoot the whole electrical system, staring at the battery. Make sure the connections are all tight and clean, including the battery cables. Put your hands on em and see if they move, and torque em up. If you dont have one - get a charger as well, your gonna need it eventually anyway

You need new rechargeable battery in headset... They only last a year, but should last 3.. IDK, being on the charge degrades them faster than normal. Open back headset and get new ones at Grocery store if they are AA or order from the specialized batter online like from Amazon.

The new starter has gone bad,or a drop in voltage(amps)has caused this.If you have a 2 amp slow charger, use it to charge the battery up 8 hours or so.Then try the ignition, and starter, and see if the problem has gone away. Also see if the ignition wire is interfering with the starter engage wire. And look at the engage wire to see if it is up against the large cable to the starter. If none of this helps, replace the starter.I hope this was helpful,if so,please let us know, thank you.
You don't say what year/model your bike is. None the less, most likely the starter bendix is shot. This can happen in an instant (especially if you have a mechanical advance and the springs are weak or broken.) This would make a sort of "zing"ing sound when you try to start it. The solenoid's job is to push the bendix into position to engage the starter ring on the clutch hub. The starter motor won't turn until the solenoid is fully engaged. Check the bendix - it should turn freely in one direction and not at all in the other. Good luck.
better yet...............even if you have the minimun 12.5 volts on the battery, the amps may not be suffiicent to turn the starter and you will hear a clacking noice. the battery probably needs to be replaced.
The problem of phone not registering is sorted, I simply put that hand piece(2) into base station and it registered straight away, as for the "out of range" problem, we have not had a long enough call today to know yet , hopefully resetting to factory settings helped.
ok bro' couple of things going on here. we'll start with the starter haha! how does it start you ask? the starter button hots up the sarter motor with the 12 volts dc which engages the starter gear wit the CLUTCH BASKET which has a ring gear in it and of course the starter is spinning and it spins the clutch basket and pulls on th primary chain if your fatpunk I mean fat boy is stock and pulls on the motor sprocket and turns the motor. If no motor power to the wheels and no starter power to the motor then something in between is broke. so I think the clang you heard was the demise of your primary chain or the clutch basket or the engine sprocket I think the primary chain is most likeley. so take it easy off the line until you hop it up proper son it ain't no hot rod til you drop some mods on it
