You should be able to hook into your tv with no problem using a audio/video jack available at any radio shack, you would tune your tv to either the select "video" channel or ch.3, your t.v. set should have no problem with the attached device.

Video Does not work on New Magnavox TV

Hi, it sounds like your problem is that you've selected the wrong "video input" for your DVD player. Your new television most likely has at least 3-4 (sometimes 6-7) different inputs for video. With your DVD player connected and turned on, press the "Source" button on your TV to cycle through the different inputs. Be sure to wait 2-4 seconds between selections to give your TV enough time to switch inputs. If your DVD player has "color coded" output cables, it's most likely a "component" video connection. See if one of your video inputs on the TV is called "Component". Some other video types are Video, DTV, HDMI, SVideo, Component, Composite, RGB, PC Input, etc...

My TV is a Sharp-AQUOS Model # LC52D64U, I have 2 DVD players. SONY DVD player Model #DVP-S530D and MAGNAVOX VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER/DVD PLAYER MODEL#MWD2206. Thanks Barbara

Sorry about the delay Barbara, I was looking for your clarification comments on the other question page. I didn't realize that you posted this information here in a brand NEW question box. No problem though, this will work just fine too. I will post the information on both question pages so there is absolutely no confusion.

First of all here are the links to each of the USER'S MANUALS for your particular system components:

SHARP AQUOS TV - MODEL # LC52D64U:

MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER MODEL # MWD2206:

http://download.m4c.magnavox.com/files/c/cmwd2206_f7/cmwd2206_f7_dfu_aen.pdf

To view the Owner's Manuals with Operating Instructions for each device, just use your mouse to click on the links, which are the underlined and highlighted text just above. Each one of them will open a new web browser page for you automatically and allow you to view the information indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You did not mention exacly what model of DirecTV receiver you have, so first of all, I will just give you the generic instructions for connecting that device to your TV using an HDMI cable connection.

DIRECTV CONNECTION TO TV

Make sure your TV and DirecTV receiver are turned off before making any cable connections.
Now connect the COAX cable from the satellite antenna to the COAX IN jack on the back of the DirecTV receiver.
Now connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT jack on the back of the DirecTV receiver.
Then connect the other end of that HDMI cable to the HDMI INPUT 5 jack on the back of your TV.
See page 10 of your TV's USER MANUAL for a detailed labelled diagram of the rear input connections on your TV.

Here also is a link to a short video which demonstrates this basic HDMI connection procedure:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7P-yayRJ6c&NR=1

If you want to test your system at this point, you can. Just plug in the power cords to the DirecTV receiver and your TV, then turn them both on.
In order to see the output from the DirecTV receiver, you will need to select the INPUT 5 input mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
See page 11 of the TV manual, button number 7 on the remote control button layout diagram.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 5 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the DirecTV Receiver on your TV.
That completes the DIRECTV to TV connection portion of the system hook-up procedure.

SONY DVD PLAYER CONNECTION TO TV

Your Sony DVD player should have come with an S-VIDEO cable and set of RCA cables (yellow / red / white ) included.
Here is a link to a picture of an S-Video cable in case you need to see one:

And here is a link to a picture of a set of 3 color RCA cables:

http://www.cameratron.co.za/images/productcables/cables/rca%20to%20rca.jpg

Connect one end of the S-VIDEO cable to the S-VIDEO OUT on the back of your SONY DVD player.
See page 8 of the SONY DVD Player manual.
Then connect the other end of the S-VIDEO cable to the S-VIDEO INPUT 2 terminal on the back of your TV.
Now take colored RCA cables and one end of the red and the white cables into the LINE OUT (AUDIO L / R) red and white jacks on the back of you SONY DVD Player.
Then take the other ends of those cables and plug the red and white plugs into the INPUT 2 (AUDIO L / R) red and white jacks on the back of your TV.
In order to see the output from the Sony DVD Player, you will need to select the INPUT 2 input mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
See page 11 of the TV manual, button number 7 on the remote control button layout diagram.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 2 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the Sony DVD Player on your TV as long as the DVD player is turned on with a disc inserted.
This completes the SONY DVD PLAYER to TV connection portion of your system hook-up procedure.

MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER TO TV CONNECTION

I will describe the connection procedure using the basic 3 color (yellow / red / white) cables which were included with the unit at purchase.
COMPONENT VIDEO cables are also a slightly higher quality option but would have to be purchased by you separately.
Take one end of the 3 color RCA cables and insert the colored plugs into the corresponding colored VIDEO OUT and AUDIO (L / R) OUT connections on the back of the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player.
YELLOW cable plugs into the VIDEO OUT connector.
RED and WHITE cables plug into the AUDIO (L / R) OUT connectors.
See page 7 of the MAGNAVOX manual, METHOD 1.
Now take the other ends of the 3 color RCA cables and plug them into the corresponding colored INPUT 1 connections on the back of your TV.
YELLOW cable plugs into the INPUT 1 - VIDEO IN connector.
RED and WHITE cables plug into the INPUT 1 - AUDIO (L / R) IN connectors.

In order to see the output from the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player, you will need to select the INPUT 1 mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 1 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player on your TV as long as the DVD player is turned on with a disc or tape inserted and playing.
This completes the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER to TV connection portion of your system hook-up procedure.
Recording content on the VCR from an outside source will require additional connections which are described in detail on page 6 of the MAGNAVOX manual.

This completes the most basic hook up of your entire system using the cables which were supplied stock with each piece of equipment. As I stated, other options are available for purchase and the instructions for connecting these types of cables are all in the various OWNER'S MANUALS provided above.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any details to add, have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

How do I hook up dvd to tv

If your TV has the standard analog audio and video inputs (yellow, red and white jacks) or for better image (S-Video rounded 4 pin jack or component video red, blue and green jacks), you'll only need the corresponding cables, and also your TV could have HDMI port (digital video and audio signals), you should use this connection, all depends of what type of outputs provide your DVD/VCR, in the case your TV set doesn't has any of mentioned inputs, you still could use the antenna input and connect its matching output from DVD/VCR , tuned at VHF channel 3 or 4.

Cannot get DVD's to play on our TV.

It depends on what kind of inputs your TV has; here are a few of the most common, all of which your DVD player supports (best quality first):

1) COMPONENT VIDEO (Red, Green, Blue)
If your TV has three inputs for video colored red, green, and blue, this is your best bet for quality video from your DVD player. You may need to buy a component video cable from the store (somewhat pricey, but great quality) which consists of three cables (again, red, green, and blue) stuck together. Just plug the red/green/blue cables into their correspondingly-colored ports on both the DVD player and the TV.
That covers your video. To set up audio, you just need some regular red/white RCA cables. On the DVD player, plug the red/white cables into the correspondingly-colored audio out jacks NEAREST to the red/green/blue cable you used earlier for video, then plug the other end into the audio in red/white jacks on the TV.

2) COMPOSITE VIDEO (Yellow)
If your TV has a yellow input for video, just use a regular yellow RCA cable. Plug it into the yellow video-out jack on the DVD player, then plug the other end into the yellow video-in jack on the TV.
To set up audio, you just need some regular red/white RCA cables. On the DVD player, plug the red/white cables into the correspondingly-colored audio out jacks NEAREST to the yellow cable you used earlier for video, then plug the other end into the audio in red/white jacks on the TV.

3) COAXIAL JACK (Antenna port)
If your TV only has a coaxial jack that you currently plug your antenna or cable line into, you'll need to buy an RF modulater and a short length of coaxial cable (you can find these anwhere: Walmart, Radio Shack, etc).
Plug the RF modulater into an electrical outlet, then plug your antenna/cable line into the "antenna in" jack on the RF modulater. Take the coaxial cable that you just bought and plug it into the "antenna out" jack on the RF modulater, then plug the other end into the antenna/cable jack on the TV. The RF modulater should have a switch on it somewhere that sets either the number 3 or 4; depending on which number you pick, that's the channel that your TV has to be switched to to view the DVD player.
Now you're all set to connect to your DVD player. Just follow the instructions in section (2), only now you're going to plug your cables in the RF modulater instead of the TV.
(I hope this wasn't too confusing; it really is a lot simpler in practice than it is in explanation...)

firstly try that tv to a different tv
if this works
then check your tv av connections in side tv
also check cables continuity
if this fails buy a AV/ RF converter, have your AV be connected to a converter, and let your output be RF feed to a tv, RF input, so instead of using AV on your tv you will be using RFchannel mode

NO VIDEO INPUT

You will need to get a RF modulator. It has connections for RCA jacks and S-video inputs and converts it to a RF signal (usually channel 3 or 4). Just plug game/DVD player into it and the antenna out to TV. You should be able to get one at any electronics or department store.
