Question about RCA RT2380 Home Theater System System

1 Answer

Unit won't allow me to change modes

I have an RT 2380 Home Theater System. Once the power is on (red light on the power button is on), I try to turn on any mode (tuner, dvd, etc.), the power turns off (red power light goes off), and I can get nothing to happen in any mode. I cannot turn the system on again unless I reset the unit by unplugging it and plugging it back in, however, the same problem will occur again when I pick a mode.

Re: Unit won't allow me to change modes

If you're NOT still under warrantee you should at least open the reciever and look for a blown fuse near where the power cable enters the set. If it is blown, it will be obvious and make sure that the set is unplugged before replacing it. If it blows again, or if it is not blown, your problem is probably in the 'X' volt regulator and you will need professional help with the repairs. You can also check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. Brief power outages may cause the receiver to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your reciever serviced.

There would be some problem in the output amplifier stage. Thats why its going to protection mode.

Button standby

The receiver is in protect mode, most likely due to a damaged amplifier. This protect mode, keeps the unit from turning on and causing further damage to itself and/or your speaker system. For more information, please visit my website at Thank you.

If the cable is really old try getting a new one. I would recommend either a monoprice cable or a mediabridge cable both are as high quality and much cheaper than a monster.

Stanby light flashes red. System will not turn on. Trouble shooting does not work

Have you tried unplugging the power supply cable. Wait a couple of minutes then plug it back in. See what happens.
Or HOLD steady the standby button for a couple of seconds and release it once you see the color change to blue. Hope it works.

I have a HTS3410D Home Theater system. I cannot

a blinking or pulsing power light usualy means a problem with the power supply. Check for burned resistors or swallen capacitors on the power board it will be the one with the one with the main power running to it.

Power cord for a rt 2500

Sandworms, that is the exact problem I had after a power out. It doesn't look the same as ducast's problem though. I posted the same solution in another thread. Here's hoping it works for you too.

When the red LED on the power button would glow, but it wouldn't turn on. Try unplugging it and plugging it back in repeatedly and it will eventually turn on. If that doesn't work try moving it to another outlet then try plugging it back in and out.
