Question about Mitsubishi VS-45603 45" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Convergence Hi Big Irish I just got my tv mostly together with the new mirror. I setup the convergence after that and It looks pretty good until I had it on for about 10 minutes and the just the blue came out of convergence. I'm wondering, if it was the convergence ICs wouldn't all 3 colors go out? Or is it possible the blue crt is going out? What would it take to fix one? Thanks again

Good Day, Hazardsneon;
No, one portion of an IC could fail, but don't replace the one that failed, replace both. Good Luck, big IRISH.

How do i fix my toshiba flat screen 57" tv when it looks like it is 3d

It sounds like the convergence IC's have failed.
Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number 23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC version. Inspect the Convergence Output IC’s for the “T” type version.

My panasonic big screen screen has shadows and fuzzy picture

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Good Day, John in Ohio;
Even though I'm from MI I will try to help you. Your TV uses a convergence IC > STK393-110 HIC > Part number > 267P140020. This model only uses one IC. The cost of IC is $27.20 from MIT but could get at local supplier cheaper.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitsubishi WT-46805

Good Day, Bosjerry;

I believe the IC's are on the left of the TV, looking from back, the TV uses STK 392-040 (two) convergence IC's. They will be mounted on a large heat sink (large silver/metal) looking device.

Good Luck, big IRISH>

Power convergence board on RCA HD52W59

Hello renning,

You may not have to buy a new board. It just might be the Convergence Amplifiers that have gone bad. You may just want to replace them first and then see if it corrects your problem before getting the whole board. The convergence amplifiers are easily identified they are tow big black modules attached to a big metal frame called a heat sync, normally it will be located on the right rear section of the TV set looking at it from the back or it would be located in the middle rear of the set looking at it from the rear. In any even look for two big six sided black components with 21-22 pins, now this is the important parts some electronics parts stores sell what are called Convergence Kits (Yes this problem is so common that they have put kits together to repair this issue), they contain the two modules and the biasing resistors needed to properly do the job. You will have to order the kit for your make and model of TV if they do not have a kit, you will have to use a schematic diagram to find the values of the biasing resistors needed. Once you have the modules and the biasing resistors, you will have to de-solder the modules and the associated resistors and replace them with the ones you purchased. You will also need to detach the modules from the heat sink clean the heat sink (with alcohol) and then attach the new modules (with a new application of heat sink paste, which is the white stuff the you removed with the alcohol) with the screws you removed to detach the modules. Once the modules and biasing resistors are installed you will need to turn on the TV and then perform a convergence setup, your TV most likely will have an auto convergence alignment setup feature on the setup menu , use this to do the convergence alignment setup (check your users manual for help in doing this). The cost for this repair will be as follows:

2 STK392-1XX series Convergence Amplifiers $4.00-$15.00 USD Total $8.00 - $30.00 USD

9-10 biasing resistors $5.00-$10.00 USD (multipack) $15.00 USD

Solder $5.00 USD

Soldering Iron $20.00 USD

Silicone Heat sink paste $6.00 USD

de-soldering brade $5.00

The cost of materials will be about $81.00 on the high end.

The cost of a new board will be about $150.00 - $200.00 depending on the vendor.

You can buy replacement boards from a manufacture approved vendor outlet, go to the manufacture's site find support and parts they should have a listing of supported vendors. I would suggest calling the vendor and ordering from the phone asking them to send you an RMA for the part (board) this protect you from having them asses charges without delivery of product.

You will need the schematic diagram to help you install it schematics can be purchased at
for about $19.00 USD.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

The picture is not clear

Good Day por24;

The most common concern with rear projection TV's that have pictures that are not clear is that the lenses and mirror needs to be cleaned. Most manufactures allow access to this area, lenses&mirror, from the front of the TV by removing the screen ***'y. That is the easiest way but not always the most obvious.

If the the brand is Phillips/Magnavox the problem will more than likely be contamination of the CRT's fluid,Ethylene Glycol, in which will have to replaced.

If not clear meaning the colors are seperated then the TV will be experienceing a convergence problem.

Good Luck, hope this was helpful, if not rtn with brand an model number, Big Irish.
