F1 flashes on display, keeps beeping - Tappan Kitchen Ranges

I found a appliance parts web site that has a list of error codes for most ranges. For a Tappan F1 is a defective controle board. I will call Ideal Appliance parts on the morning for a price. It's a pain bcause I have to unplug the range to stop the beep and plug it in to a countertop outlet to start a burner (or use a match) and the oven doesn't worrk. Fortunately I run an A/C business so I can get parts at dealler price since that board ain't cheap.

My electric range keeps beeping and flashing F1. What do I do?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Error code F1 is displayed due to electronic oven control failure and the only way to solve this problem is by replacing the control board which is bad. Sorry for the bad news but hope you understand... Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have a tappan range that keeps getting F1/F3 in on the display panel.

How to test many brands of Ranges that are flashing a F1 fault code: You have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad.
  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock as one part. * We have seen a few of the newer Maytag ranges with a F1 fault code and the problem was the oven temp sensor, check carefully the wires to and from the oven temp sensor!!

F1 Displayed

Carol, The F1 error code could be cause a failed ERC(EOC,Clock assembly)or a faulty touch-pad. To check the ERC and the touch pad, follow the steps below : -Disconnect renger's power cable. - Gain access to ECR's back. - Disconnect the ribbon cable between the ERC and the touch-pad - Reconnect renger's power cable and switch on. - If you will get the F1 and the beep,it means that the ERC is fault and should be replaced. - If you don't see the F1 code and don't have the beep, you should replce the touch-pad. Good luck !

Error code F1

Error code F1 is for a defective touch pad or membrane (usually the touch pad). In this case you will need replace touch pad or membrane. It seems that water entered the touch pad during the self cleaning process, remove the touch pad and try to dry it. Good luck !!
