Hi, Worldvet! Thank you for your prompt response. I began the process you recommended- basically same as Sony DVP NS55P DVD player, but with different input code......the tray kept going in and out and was up to 200 times when I realized that the code was 00030 and did 30 repititions...now that the code was over 12,000, was it going to do that many?! I stoppd the process so I could clarify. At that rate, we would have had an unlocked DVD player that was so worn out it would have soon broken :) Thanks for clarifing!
OK, let me know when you get this cleared so you can play US/Canda discs.
If you get stuck and can't get to an authorized service center who will reset it for you, and if they don't do it for free "threaten to take it Sony directly" but be nice about it. Sony company policy requires them to reset this for you as there is no region code lock law anymore.
If all else fails there is a way to make your CD/DVDs usable using your Computer if you're pretty hand with software. Its not that hard actually, a free ware program strips the region code out and then you burn it to a new DVD (single layer) and that should play. Just let me know. You can go to videohelp.com and enter your model number and read user responses to what make DVDs work best in your player.

I want to unlock my Sony DVP-NS55P to play region-free discs. I tried an unlock code from here, with no results, although I can apparently now play Region 2 discs. Any recommendations? Thanks
