Question about Honeywell Electronic Programmable Heat/Cool Thermostat - CT3300A100 Heater

1 Answer

Thermostat back light problem.

I'm having the same issue. Please let me know if you find out how to turn it off. Ours is like a beacon in the night. My husband has been placing a baseball cap over it until we can figure it out.
Thanks.

You need the installation manual which can be downloaded at
http://yourhome.honeywell.com/Consumer/Cultures/en-US/Products/Thermostats

go to setting 280 which sets the backlight options and select option 0 which turns on the backlight for 8 seconds when a button is pushed and then turns off.

This info is not in the owners manual, only the installation manual.

I have a Rheem Classic Super Quiet 80 gas furnace (for heat). The fan stops when the "heat" turns on.

Any time I ever had trouble, first thing to suspect is the thermostat.
They lose contact sometimes and sometimes you tap the face and they work til next glitch.
If the thermostat has some years on it,go ahead and replace it.
Can't you just leave the heat and fan in auto? That would be best,I think. don-ohio

Where are the batteries on my thermostat

If you posted the Brand and model that would really help. Sometimes they are in the front behind a little door or more commonly you need to take the thermostat off the sub base and they are on the back of the thermostat.

My Coleman furnace 4322/729 model lights the pilot but won't cut in . What could be problem ? Cleared lines Complete

Gas valve not opening? Does it have the exhaust blower that pulls vacuum switch allowing burner to light?
(1) Thermostat not working? Has to complete the circuit in or gas valve to open.
(2)Can be a stuck or bad gas valve. Try tapping the side of the gas valve body while thermostat is calling for heat. Tapping, not pounding. Like lightly, yannow? don-ohio (:^)

I have a 9610 thermostat turns on and off to frequently

I am guessing but the thermostat is either faulty or is in conflict with another thermostatic device in the system. The room thermostat measures the air temperature in the room but with a modern intelligent boiler there will be other sensors measuring all sorts of things including the water temperature.

Personally I prefer to have thermostatic radiator valves rather than a room or zone thermostat.

I need to know if a mercury thermostat is bad will it allow the ac to come on but not the heater

need to know what thermostat you are referring to
the coolant thermostat has no connection to the ac system
if it is the ac thermostat the it maintains the cabin temperature by activating the ac compressor as required
if you are referring to climate control then that controls the heater flow to keep the ac temperature at a set temperature with the ac compressor operating all the time
so as an answer to you question , check the climate control module

Johnson Starley boiler main board fuse blowing

Chances are the fuse on the circuit board is for control circuit protection. Take note of the location of all the thermostat connections on the circuit board and remove them. Do this with the power OFF. Replace the fuse and re establish power. If the fuse did not blow, the problem is in the wiring to or from the thermostat. It could even have the insulation rubbed through and making contact with the side of the boiler or a mouse could have chewed through the insulation causing a short to a metal object.

Once the issue with the thermostat wiring is resolved, reinstall the low voltage connections and you should be good to go.

Electric Furnace stopped running

You have one of two problems. Either the capacitor for the motor has failed or the motor has failed. I would turn off the power to the unit and see if you can locate the capacitor and remove it. An ac supply or electrical supply house can match up the capacitor. This is relatively inexpensive. Otherwise you will need a new motor.

Why can't I lower my honeywell 8500 below 67 on cool?

With a two story house you have to be aware that cold air flows downwards so any cold air coming from an ac unit will flow downstairs( normally down the stairway) so unless you can close off the down stairs then the up stairs unit will be cooling downstairs as well. Ac units have a thermostat located in the air intake and it cools until the cold air has risen to that point. In effect the space above the ac unit will be hotter than the floor. Knowing how they work ,you can see that the upstairs unit will never reach the set temperature because the cold air is continually heating from the house and will never get to the top thermostat.
So your solutions are
1-- fit controls that restrict the cold air from leaving the upper floor (Doors)
2--don't run the upper ac unit unless you are living up there (waste of money
)3 place an ac in each upper room and keep the room door closed

I have a Coleman Evcon electric furnace, the blower fan runs constantly and I have to shut the breaker off inside the front cover to turn it off. The switch is on auto and it runs even when the thermostat...

It could be a thermostat problem. Also it will seem to run constantly as it tries to heat and one of the elements are working which could be a sequencer problem.
