Firstly having tried TV's has a computer monitor, I personally wouldn't recommend one for that purpose. The screen appearance will never look as good as a proper monitor. Even a second-hand monitor will give you better picture quality, plus it will shut down when you power the system down.
Universal remotes have to be set up with the correct code for the make of TV and model. Not all codes will work all functions. Unless you actually know the correct code for your TV try all the other codes for the brand. Choose the best one.
Again the "Universal" on makes of remotes referrers to the fact you can get the basic functions for all makes of TV. It does not mean that it will work ALL functions on all TV's. The more expensive "universal" remotes will do more functions, but nothing will beat the "original" remote.
Universal Remote Control Codes For TV & Audio. ... Codes for Philips Universal Remotes · Sanyo TV Codes for Universal Remotes · Codes for .... I have an 19 inch Emerson flat screen and a RCA universal remote. Please help with the code ..
The remote may or may not be the real problem, it is possible on most of these to gain access with back removed directly to the tiny button switch that is in back of the plastic power button on the set and press it with something not sharp (a micro switch is what the button activates) and if set comes on get the remote programmed.
Your best bet if the set will make it on that way is to get the original remote----if in North America with the model number of the set contact either Sharp or Andrews Electronics---usually the original is under 35 dollars and no headaches with programming.
If set does not turn on manually with the micro button you may now have a actual circuit problem in the set.
You usually need the original remote. The trouble with universal remotes is that they generally control only the basic functions of a TV (power, volume, channel) but not much else. Without the original, you often lose other functions. You can try the front panel buttons if yours has them. On some sets the on-screen menus allow you to access caption settings.
But are you sure the captions are coming from the TV? Sure, the TV is displaying them, but if you have a satellite receiver, cable box or digital set-top box, the captions may be coming from that device. This is likely to be true if the captions just mysteriously started and you don't have or aren't using the TV original remote. These devices often don't allow a TV's built-in caption decoder to work properly, so they provide captions themselves. You may have turned captions on using that device's remote. Check the menu for caption controls.
You will need the original remote to acces the convergence setting adjustments. You can get the original remote for your model from www.tvrepairworld.com
if you have a universal remote control that you are trying to program . the newer ones have a 4 digit code .. the older ones have only a 3 digit code .. the ones with 3 digit codes often wont work with newer equipment ... the new type universal remotes cover a lot more types .. ... if you are trying to get the remote that came with the TV working .. then you can remove the batteries for 10 min .. when you put them back in it should default to original factory settings ..
try ebay with the model number; I had the same thing with a sharp set I own---only way to access the menu and do things is with an original remote--if this was helpful please vote for me.
well alot of tv require the same remote to get to your options okay try a universal but w video button and try every code # okay just because the one code may work may not let you goto the menu thats why i say try every code for that set good luck
