A dehumidifier should blow cold air Carole. It takes in warm moist air, chills it, condenses the water out of the air and returns it chilled and dry to the room. That is the function of a dehumidifier. They often have the function of an air conditioner and blow cold air out of one outlet into the room and hot air out of the window via a venting hose. If yours is just a dehumidifier, it is working as designed
It's not unusual for a dehumidifier to blow warm air. As it may be in defrost mode. Even so, they still blow warm air.
The model number you furnished is slightly helpful. Knowing what brand it is, would be even better.
Never-the-less, the filter should be located behind the front louvers of the unit. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder, just behind the front louvers. You may see a plastic pull tab handle. If so, that's the filter frame. Pull it straight down and out.
If you didn't find it there, look on the right hand side of the unit, just behind the louvers for what looks like a a flip open door. If you see that, flip the door open and remove the filter.
The filter can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner or if it's really dirty, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid. Thoroughly rinse and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place.
The dehumidifier is supposed to be releasing warm air. In order for the built-in refrigerator to lower the coolant's temperature, heat must be removed from it. Thus, that removed heat flows out of the unit. If it's a problem, I would suggest having a fan nearby, or perhaps you could put the dehumidifier in a cooler part of the house. (In case you're curious, try looking for any vents near your refrigerator or freezer, and you'll see what I mean.)
a dehumidifier is basically the same thing as an air conditioner but both coils (condenser and evaporator) are in the same unit meaning a dehumidifier exhaust warm air in the same room it is in. running a dehumidifier would make an air conditioner run more because of the warm exhaust, but you are correct, when you run an air conditioner it acts like a dehumidifier and dries the air. as far as saving energy it all depends on the size of the AC and dehumidifier and the size of the room. If you want warm dry air use a dehumidifier if you want cool dry air run the AC but not both.
A) The warm air that is being expelled from your dehumidifier is normal. When the unit is dehumidifying the compressor is working which causes the compressor to become quite hot. In order to avoid having the compressor overheat, air is drawn by the compressor at a rapid rate and the heat is then transferred to the air which must be expelled from the unit. The warm air will stop shortly after the unit has reached the desired humidity. This warm air should not change your room temperature by more than a degree or two.
