1. Try another USB cord or USB cable.
2. Restrart your computer for a try.
3. Reset or restore your iPod for a try, this way can fix many general iPod problems.
4. Download and install the latest version fo iTunes for a try.
5. You may try this iPod transfer, it's a nice iTunes alternative that can help you upload music and video to iPod, I always use it to sync my iPod when my iTunes can't recognize my iPod, it's easy to use and works pretty well

Hi,
iPods always say 'do not disconnect' when you connect it to the computer. That is what they are supposed to do. iTunes should open a short time after that. If i Tunes doesn 't open, then click on it to open it. You should see your iPod on the left side.

I suspect that you are not using iTunes to put music into your iPod. You cannot 'drag' music into your iPod. ITunes has to put it there.

You should have all of your music in your iTunes library that you want to put into your iPod. You have to use iTunes to put music into your iPod. Actually, this is the easiest way.

Once your music is in iTunes, plug your iPod into the computer. When your iPod appears in iTunes on the left side, click on the music tab and tell iTunes what music and play lists you want to put into your iPod.

Then click sync at the bottom. The iPod will go into sync mode until all of your music is loaded. Then it will say sync completed. You can then click the arrow next to your iPod to release it from iTunes.

When you want to release it from your computer, click on the little green icon at the bottom right of your computer screen. If you don't see it, click the white arrow. Click on the green plug icon and wait until you see safely isconnect mass storage device from the computer. Click on that and wait until you see, 'It is now safe to disconnect your mass storage device from the computer". Disconnect your iPod now.

Hope that helps.

I connected the iPod Video 80 GB to my computer. it started charging but when i took it off, it wont let me pause the song and when i hit the menu button, it says: Do not disconnect. Even though its not...

Try hooking it back up to your computer and doing a restore. This solves a lot of strange problems on iPods.
Be advised it will wipe the unit clear and you'll need to restore all your music.

I have a 30 gb ipod video, the screen says connect to computer use itunes to restore ipod. The problem is the original computer with all my music had its hard drive crash, and i havent backed up my ipod on...

probably not... but you can try these:
while the iPod is plugged in, toggle the hold switch on and off (slide it to hold, then slide it back again), then press and hold the "menu" button and the center button until you see the apple logo on the screen, if this doesn't fix it... try a different USB port (use one on the computer itself, not your keyboard or hub), if this doesn't work... restart your computer and make sure you have the latest updates for your computer, if this doesn't work... call apple at this link:

30 gig ipod video wont allow music vid to load from itunes

Check your video format and make sure it's compatible with the ipod.
you can get a converter that will convert your video file for use with the ipod.
Your ipod will play mp4 and H264 files with no problem

Just do a search for a "ipod video converter" on the net. You can download one free
by using a P2P client like ares Galaxy
