Question about Toshiba 46H84 46" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Open Question

No pictue but sound works

The TV will turn on and the sound works but the screen won't turn on at all. From what I can tell the tubes aren't glowing at all. The screen doesn't appear to be getting any power. Is it a problem with the hv splitter or possibly the deflection board and if so could you define what part? I might try replacing the deflection board. Is this the right part? http://jr.partsearch.com/Part/Toshiba/Toshiba/46H84/Toshiba/Toshiba/23762135/New.aspx Thanks

If you have zagged lines there are 10 small surface mounted capacitors you will need to change on the HYper Board. This is not an easy repair so alot of folks simply replace the hyper board. You will need a service manual to take this set apart and to get the proper part number. If you have no TV repair experience or do not know how to solder, as the hyper board has sheild arounfd it, you should play it safe and call out a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck

sammy jo ,you burnt the tubes by leaving it on with a vertical collaspe faultmnow you have three damaged tubes,i also think that you also have a bad yoke which is taking out the new parts ,the cost is within reason,the shop repair is to insprct it deeped for possible other faults and damage already done.

SOURCE: relays wont click on when

have you checked your fuse? Will the relay click when you press power? You may possibly have a bad relay or the bridge rectifier diodes could be open.

The deflectionmodule will be almost impossible to get. However it sounds like you quite possibly only need a flyback 259296 and the HV splitter which are the two most common items to fail. you can get both parts at the following link along with free online tech support so you can repair your set yourself, or they can rebuild your Circuit board. Leave them a email include the model number and what you need.

Projection TV keeps shutting down

Good Day;

Sounds like you have a bad green picture tube that has failed. To check this out; remove front speaker grill, remove small panel, you will see three CRT's (pictue tubes) sticking down, remove the little board on the middle tube then restore power. If TV stays on more then likely the CRT is bad but not always the driver on board could also be bad, check voltages.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Check the bulbs. If one is burned out, you will get this problem. The bulb is easy to change but will run you about $300.

Screen went black, no picture

A clue to what is wrong is by looking from the back (taking the back off) and looking to see if the three picture tubes have any yellow glow at the bottom of them where the three identical boards are located on each tube.. If you have no glow there you possibly have a resistor R4703 open. It is a 3.3 ohm resistor and feeds the voltage to the filaments in each tube where the glow is suppose to be. If you do have the glow the problem could be much more complicated. Another to check is to see if the menu comes up on the screen. You could possibly be in the wrong input mode, Check your input mode with the input button on the remote The number R4703 is a location number to identify where the resistor is. This is all I can tell you that would not require much more complicated procedures requiring a tv repairman to look at it. If you have an ohm meter you can check R4703 but it must be checked out of circuit. (or at least one leg loose) Hope this helps
