I can not get the laptop to play any sound and the speaker icon is saying "no audio output device installed" now. what happened and how can i fix it?

Either the audio driver was not installed or it got deleted.
You can download audio driver from the Sony WEB site and then install the audio driver.
Select your model notebook and the Windows XP or Vista drivers you require. Use this link.

The laptop says no audio output device is installed

You probably just need to reinstall you audio drivers. OR do a system restore to a time when the drivers/sound DID work.

No audio output device is installed!!!!help

A lot of the newer audio chipsets (especially in laptops) use Microsoft's Universal Audio Architecture (UAA). Windows 7 and Vista don't need a separate driver, but XP does. So you need one of Packard Bell's combo driver packages like this one:

http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=6944060200

There are a lot of different EasyNote models, so if this isn't the right package for your computer, enter your serial number in the support site to find the specific downloads.

"No Audio Output Device is installed"

I checked their website. Did you download the sound driver RAM2080 Win Vista x 86 15.02.2007 version 6.10.5337.0?

If so and it did not work it looks like you'll have to update the BIOS (BIOS update RAM2080 _only_ for MS Windows Vista 14.05.2007 version F0A. However BE VERY CAREFUL and follow the instructions EXACTLY, otherwise you may make the computer unbootable.

No audio device installed on my laptop

I'm not sure whether this is the exact same problem, as I was having, but mine just randomly quit while I was listening to music this morning. I got messages saying "No audio device installed", but when I went to device manager, all my audio devices said they were working properly. If this is the case with you, simply restart your computer. It may take a couple restarts, but this should work. My sound was back even before it finished shutting down.

If it helps anyone trying to get to the root of this problem, I am running XP on a Dell B130 laptop, with the following devices listed in Device Manager:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Video Codecs
Hope this helps!
