Really loud clicking clanking noise from intellifax 4100

Hi: When powering on, regardless of whether toner or paper tray are in, there is a loud clanking noise about 10 secs. Triggered each time front door opened/closed. In use paper gets caught in toner unit. Noise coming from the left side at front (near swinging door). Edge of the fuser ok - - glossy clean. I have another machine with worn fuser. I could use one machine for spare parts. Ideas? Thank you in advance.

SOURCE: Fuser & Scanner are not the problem

Either the laser unit is dirty or blocked. Or the drum cartridge.

SOURCE: hoping you can help with some advice...

does the noise still happen as you make a copy?
if everything is out :toner/drum, paper tray most likely it is the fuser, does the paper stop at the fuser entrance?
the only thing I can think of that turns during the warming up cycle are the toner, drum, paper lifting mechanism for the tray and fuser

SOURCE: rebuilding the brother fuser for the intellifax 4100

Although it fit the broken fuser, it does not mean it's ok.
1-they must have the same number of teeth ( diif. gears have diff. amounts of teeth)
2-it must be the same diameter ( so they can mesh together, otherwise it's touching the tip of hte teeth and may be skipping.

But I'm not sure the double image is coming from there, it would jam the paper because the timing is off.
Anyway you need to eliminate the obvious then see what happens, I think you said you had another tonertry putting that in, if it doesn't work then change the gear for the correct one.

When I go to print or copy the machine makes a loud clicking noise and then says paper jam. Brother MFC - 8460 N

Hello,
The loud clicking noise is either the toner cartridge or the paper feed. If the jam occurs in the drum and toner cartridge then I recommend changing the toner.
If the paper is not being fed at all then you need to have the paper feed kit replaced.
Thanks,
Pat

Loud clicking noise when faxes arrive

The noise may be caused by the toner cartridge binding up. This can happen with remanufactured cartridges more so than OEM. Try swapping out the cartridge.

PAPER JAM

If you pull the drum out of the machine. Close front cover. is the noise still there. If it is then you have a broken fuser gear. If noise is not there remove the toner cart. from drum reinstall the drum unit in machine see if noise is there. if noise is there then it will be the drum. If not reinstall the toner try that if noise comes back then it is your toner cart.

The printer keeps saying check paper - re load

check the paper, and reload it

check the paper sensor in paper tray, somtimes when you slide paper in to the tray it pushes under the sensor and holds it up, it is supposed to sit on top of the sensor and push it down

Intellifax 4100 grinding noice

Probably caused by the toner cart. Only use genuine new Brother brand supplies. Remans fail quite often with Brother machines.
Possibly bad gears on fuser drive. But with the poor print quality, I suspect it is the toner.

4100 brother

Try changing the toner to a new one it maybe that the toner you have installed is a faulty one. I have had this problem before and it was cured by a new toner. The most common cause for this is re manufactured toner cartridges make sure it is an original then try also it maybe the drum so try changing both.

Hope this helps you

Gears grinding with Brother Intellifax 4100

Does it only make the noise when printing. Do you hear the noise when sending out faxes? I have heard grinding noises onlt when using poor quality toner refills, or the fuser gear and or drive gear asm is stripped. First try a known good OEM toner.
