Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

1 Answer

We lost our electricity this week, and since then the RTune button on our remote control will not work! Plus with the up errors to scroll channels it will go up to channel 22 and then goes back to channel 2. Frustrating, to say the least. If you have some solutions they would be appreciated. Tks. The only control on the front of the tv that works is the on-off button. When the tv is turned on it continuously changes channels as if someone is holding down the up channel button on the remote.

I know the set well and would like to help---FIRST THING IS DISCONNECT THE POWER TO THE SET---a few minutes will be enough.

Plug set back and a good chance it will have returned to normal

If not let me know and let me know if on the front of the cabinet it has the "GUIDE PLUS" LOGO.

Disconnect the board if you have a real working remote, set will work via the remote without that board---remote sensor is behind screen and above the board.

Keyboard issues and answers:
A problem that is more common than most people think is an issue with buttons on thecontrol keyboards of modern TV sets.
Recently for whatever reason I have seen more questions about this so I have composed this answer and solution for these kinds of problems.
It can be any button on the set-channel up/down or volume up down-you name it.The symptoms are the same: channel will scan up or down and will not stop-remote control has no effect on this---It can be channel, volume, or even input or menu if the set has those up front or on the side of the set.All these push controls have something in common-beneath each is a tiny momentary push switch-when pushed with the plastic button it performs a specific task (vol up or down etc.).What happens is the afflicted switch beneath the plastic button is bad-when released it issupposed to stop its function but does not.Keyboard or button controlled features have PRIORITY over the remote control, hence the remote will not stop this from happening. Both the remote and the keyboard go to the microprocessor in the se t but the keyboard is first in line. How to resolve this issue?Someone needs to get at the tiny pc board with the buttons and locate the one associated with the issue (ie sound or channel etc) and unsolder that switch from the board-usually just two pins (may be more for mounting only purposes) and then see if set does not have the issue withswitch out of the circuit. For the TECH minded with the board out test here the switches with a ohm meter set to highresistance-any reading with button not pressed means a bad switch-seen ones that read 5,000 plus ohms-it may be necessary to unsolder more than one switch to locate the offender here but an open reading with switch not pressed is the rule.I have taken the time to compose this answer as some do not understand what is happening in these types of situations---No magic wand or smoke and mirrors here-have to disable the offending switch to know. The beauty (in my view) of this kind of problem is if found, you really do not have to replaceany part-just operate the set with the remote with one button that no longer functions on theset itself-who could ask for more? Check to make sure the channel down button is not stuck. If it is not the button is probably defective. Mits has had a lot of problems with the buttons.

My son lost me remote how can i get it back to regular tv when it is stuck on the channel for video games?\

Look on the button panel for the television and see there is one labeled "Input"

Press this button until the TV channels come back on.

You can also purchase a universal remote control at any electronics store, for about $10.00, which would replace your old remote.
