Question about KitchenAid 30 in. KECC506R Electric Cooktop

1 Answer

HOT SURFACE LIGHTS

I have just installed a Kitchenaid 30' electric cooktop ... using the wiring instructions for a 3 wire-cable from the home power supply to a 4 wire cable from the cooktop.
Everything seems to work fine , other than the 'Hot Surface Indicator Lights' remain on all of the time.

Is there a way to correct this ?

Hello,

I suspect on teh wiring from the house the black&white will be the hot wires and the bare will be ground/neutral

use a volt meter before connecting tonew cooktop and check for;
black/bare to have 120volts
white/bare to have 120volts

if that is what you find...connect new cooktop as such;

black to black
red to (house) white

(cooktop) white and green to bare

No power

The mosible cause is the conection point of the power supply wire with the wire harness have been overheated and melded so you have open electric curcuit. You need to remove top cover find where the wires are smoked, burned, black and and replace what is burned.

I need the wiring diagram and plug/receptacle specs for kenmore electric cooktp 42732

I believe that if you look on the name plate for the unit , it says that you will need a 30 amp, 220 volt supply circuit . This would be a two pole , 30 amp breaker , a run of # 10-3 cable with ground, and a junction box at the stove top location to make the splices. If you are going to use a plug connection, then a 30 amp 4 wire dryer outlet will give you the connection you need .

My house wires from the electic stove top has 3 wires and my new bosch electric top has 4 on red, white, green, yellow?

hook the red and yellow off the new stove to the two hot phases-then connect the white on the new unit to the neutral power connection and finally the green wire can hook to the same neutral wire also as long as the power comes directly from the main electrical panel in the home, but not a sub-panel

Jenn Air cooktop has 4 wires Black, white, red, and green and my house supplies power with 3 leads white, black , & green. How are the wires hooked up to power the unit?

Old plug: green is ground, white and blace are both hot power. New cooktop: green is ground, WHITE is COMMON, black and RED are hot power. You are going to need an electrician to run a new circuit and plug for your new cooktop.

I need tio hook up a 4 wire cooktop(Bl R, W, Gr/copper to a 3 wire boat(Bl-L1, W-L2 and Gr) Can anyone help?

hi my name is mark, you need to check local electrical code before wiring cooktop. if it is allowed the white and ground/copper can be tied together with green from house. but if not allowed you will have to run a seperate white wire or new 8ga 3 wire/ with ground from breaker box. check the code first. and shut off power before you wire cooktop. thanks for your question.

Wiring for Neff Hob-not supplied/no wiring instructions

The details of how to wire the T1213 hob are printed on the base of the hob next to the terminal compartment. For a single cable installation, Neutral is connected to terminals 4 & 5 which should already be linked with a copper link. Terminals 1,2 & 3 should be linked together using the links supplied (hidden in the side of the terminal compartment) and Live is connected to any one of 1,2 or 3. The Earth goes to the terminal beside the cable clamp.

If you are in the USA most codes require a seperate circuit for the oven and the cooktop. Most cooktops require 30 amps and at least #10 wire.
