The SVHS channel comes up if there is an SVideo cable plugged in. If SVHS comes up and there is nothing coming up, the input board is damaged. In which case a new TV will probably be your best option.

How do i get my tv on to the av channels without a remote

The short answer is you can't. Most sets now require the remote control, which has a "source" or "input" button that you need to press. To make matters worse, a universal remote often (usually, in fact) won't have the right codes to switch inputs. There are vendors selling original replacement remotes, but they can be pretty costly.

The longer answer is that on a few TVs you might find a source selection through the on-screen menus. If your set has front panel menu control. Some do, but often the functions are very limited. On a few models of RCA sets you could switch to AV inputs using special channel numbers (00, 98 or 99) but these were older models made when cable systems had fewer channels.

Without knowing your brand and model I can't tell you more. But it's almost certain you'll need a remote. Hopefully you can find a universal remote that will work for you.

CONNECT TV,DVD, AND CABLE TOGETHER TO OPTIMIZE THE SOUND QUALITY .

Usually you have to use a couple of external AV Inputs. for the DVD and the Cable goes into the Componet/SVHS input, OR IF TV has a "Cable" "Antenna" socket, an "F" Connector (Female) You can hook up that way and "Tune" your cable channels. Now If you connect up to the Video in, on TV, you must also use corresponding Audio Channel as well. See ir depends on, how many and what sort of inputs you have. But usually you have a couple of AV inputs selectable via menu. Usually Yellow, Video, Red & White, Audio.

Suggest you check remotes.com for an original replacement remote or a known good ''universal' remote that has the code set for your Philips.

Channel 91 say av input

Thanks for all your help. I was afraid the answer might be something like that. I do seem to have a signal issue with the higher channels.

Vcr tuning

If you are using AV leads, switch the TV to the AV channel. If you are using a coax lead, choose channel 0, put a tape in the player, and tune the Tv (probably on the UHF channel) until the movie appears.

AV no longer works!?!

delma11-If your AV was working good before,it is quite possible the AV jacks are cracked away from the pcboard ass'y. If your tv goes into AV mode, try wiggling cables to see if picture comes in.You could also try changing patch cable, let me know if this helps. cooltek Feb.16/08

TV, freeview, DVD and video set up.

Hi.
Modern day freeview boxes rarely have A modulator in them so you can not tune it to a channel on your tv it must be connected using scart lead.
Most freeview boxes have 2 scart sockets one for VCR & one for TV plug your scart leads in to the scart sockets of freeview they will be labled TV & VCR.
The scart labled TV goes to scart socket on the TV labled AV1 or 1
The scart labled VCR goes to scart socket on VCR labled AV or IN
Now the aerial leads From wall socket to ANT in on freeview.
Then from RF out on freeview to ANT in on VCR.
Then RF out on VCR to ANT in on TV doing this will enable you to put TV on 9 to watch tapes.

The final scart will be from DVD to TV socket marked AV2

You will need to put TV on AV channel to view freeview.
To record freeview you must put VCR to EITHER line.av,aux. it will be one of those different manufacturers call them by varying names.
I have done this banking on your tv having 2 scart sockets if it only has 1 let me know & I will tell you how to wire it differently.
Please state make & model of TV set & VCR & what connections are available EG scart, Phono, Svhs etc.
