Question about Brother IntelliFAX 4100 Laser Fax
Hi, your answer to someone else made us hope you could please shed some light on our problem: we have the same machine. When powering on, regardless of whether toner/drum or paper tray are in/out, there is a really loud clanking noise that lasts about 5-10 seconds then stops (no error messages). You can trigger the sound each time the front door is opened and then swung up to close: again lasting about 5-10 seconds. When using the machine paper gets caught in toner/drum unit. The noise seems to be coming from the left side at the front (near where the door swings down). Looking at the edge of the fuser makes me think it doesn't have significant wear - - nice and clean with a glossy finish. I happen to have another one of these machines that we stopped using because the fuser was badly worn. I suppose I could use or the other of these machines for spare parts, ending up with one functioning machine. Ideas? A BIG thank you. MUCH appreciated!!
Does the noise still happen as you make a copy?
if everything is out :toner/drum, paper tray most likely it is the fuser, does the paper stop at the fuser entrance?
the only thing I can think of that turns during the warming up cycle are the toner, drum, paper lifting mechanism for the tray and fuser
