Re: Not able to get internet service
So your wireless network is secured, so really before you can get online with it wirelessly you need to put in the correct security key which is calle a WEP/WPA key, since you can access the internet when connected wired to the router what you need to do here is to access the router setup page and get the security key that you need.
This are the steps to do that:
1.connect the computer to the router with a wired
2.on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 it will ask you for a username and password leave the username blank and password is admin, if admin did not work try typing you commonly use password.
3.if you're already on the setup page of the router, just go to wireless tab and there you will see a wireless security sub tab
4.just go to wireless security then get the security from there
5.then connect to your wireless network using that key
If the password didn't work you may need to reset the router adn reconfigure it back I will advice you to call Linksys tech support so thet can walk you through with that , this is the number 800-3267114 they are open 24hrs...
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

There are no internet passwords. For lot of internet related services you need passwords. Like when you want to setup a wireless connection, you have to setup your wifi router with a wireless connection the connection gets a name and if you are wise you secure the connection with a password. Same goes for every mail account or accounts on websites. You need an unique login name and to make sure no one els can access the account secure it with a password.
It would appear that your tablet can connect to whatever wireless access point you are trying to use, but this access point is preventing your access to the Internet probably because it needs a Username and Password to let you through. Check and make sure that you have all the relevant information to connect completely.
The items you may need are
Wireless access key
Wireless encryption method
Username & Password for Internet access
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Configure the Router1.Step 1 Open your web browser, type " http://192.168.1.1/ " into the address bar and hit "Enter." 2.Step 2 Use "Admin" as the username in the pop-up box and leave the password blank. 3.Step 3 Connect to the Internet and click on "Internet Setup." 4.Step 4 Select your connection type from the drop-down menu. Choose "DHCP" for cable modems or "PPPoE" for most DSL modems. If you are unsure of these options, check with your ISP. 5.Step 5 Set a service set identifier (SSID) to identify the router and change the password. 6.Step 6 Encrypt your wireless connection using a Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) key. Under the "Wireless Security" option, enter a passphrase and click "Generate." This will generate a password which will need to be used by any client connecting to your router.
As dragoness1 says, you don't need a LAN to connect. Right click wireless icon in system tray (bottom right of screen), select "show available Wireless networks". Select one and click connect. If they're not from your own Internet service, they may be protected by a password.
If you use your cable internet service via an ethernet cable, basically plugged into it directly, then there is no way some one can access your internet. If you have a wireless router in your house, someone can use your router for a connection if they are within range. Unless you router is set up with a network key (password) in order to connect. A network key is set by you and only you have it, so if you set one write it down, if you lose it you will need another router in order to connect other machines in the future. Also, a network key only needs to be entered into a computer once, it's not a password that is enteredevery time you log on, the network configuration in the computer remembers it. Now keep in mind that "hackers" aren't interested in individuals (unless you're a major corporate ceo or somthing), and even if somebody does access the internet through your service that they cannot access or see anything on your computer that you don't allow them to see or access, that security is built in. Don't let Dateline scare you about "hackers", I saw that episode and they made a mountain out of a mole hill, bad. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to ask.
LImited access no internet service means that Authentication of your wireless network is not up.
You must know what your wireless encryption is and you can check your manual/guide for your router or gateway on how to access it.If you dont have it anymore than you can access your router by using your desktop computer w/c im sure is hardwired to your router.
By using your desktop we need to look for you default gateway by ff the steps below.
For win xp:
Start > run > cmd .... on the Dos window type in ipconfig /all
it'l then show your default gateway . It would look like this .192.168.xxxx
If you have your default gateway , w/c is your routers physical address Open your favorite browser and on the address bar type in your default gateway. It would route you to your routers page. Most routers ask for your username and password. When youre able to access your router you'l have a chance now to view or change your wireless settings.
Hope that helps. Pls let us know if you have further questions or clarifications.
Unless you get into the configuration of the router, you don't have to worry about 'messing' anything up... you just need to know the SSID (the name of the wifi connection they configured) and the password, if it is protected with WEP or WAP... just install the card into the laptop with the proper drivers, and use either the utility that came with the laptop (turn off the Windows Wireless Config in your services.msc) or use Windows Wireless Config Utility to access (find) the SSID of her router..
