Smoking/crackling Kenwood Chef A701...KM201

Whilst in use (mixing) the machine has begun to smoke from the motor area and make an occasional cracking or pop noise. The motor keeps on going and mixing but I turn it off immediately in case it blows up.
Any suggestions ?

Why does my Hobart 30 quart mixer cut off after 15-30 seconds of mixing?

The small button that pops out is your over load protection for the electrical motor
There might be a phase missing from your power supply.
The motor might have a problem.
Or the gearbox is faulty and couses the motor to struggle to turn and thst is the reasons for a over load protection to trip

The machine keeps cutting out during blending and mixing

need clarification. what does cut out mean? The motor stops altogether? The beaters stop spinning but you still get motor sounds? It comes on and goes completely off while in use and then comes back on. is there ever a bad smell or smoke? Are there any unusual sounds that you hear before it does a cut out or after it comes back on? Does it ever go up or down in speed on it's own. do the attachment gears on top spin while you are mixing in the bowl? we need to narrow the field of questions down to get to the right repair path. Please let us know.

KA 600 is making a clinking noise when mixing.

Tll,
It sounds like it could be an issue with the gear, the motor housing could have a crack in it. The problem could be much more involved as well. Put the unit on the slowest speed and see if you can stop the mixer from spinning. If it hiccups or stutters, that means you have a stripped gear. If you cannot stop the unit using your hand ON THE SLOWEST speed then there could be a problem with the motor housing or the motor itself not being held in place properly.

Mixer is still going but making a popping noise. Also has a burning smell - maybe a wiring problem?

HI.When the stand mixer produces a popping sound during mixing this problem has something to do with the motor.Motor has bossing on it.This might not be lubricated well and eventually lossen up.That's why it produces a popping sound. And with regard to the burnt smell might be on the coil of the motor's rotor or armature. Is the unit still functioning eventhough you smeeell burnt wire?Thank you for choosing FIXYA..

My mixer just started smoking while i was mix some

Your mixer may still be good, let it cool down and then check it out, If it runs OK then there is no problem. The motor in your mixer probably over heated from trying to mix bread dough which will make any mixer work hard. These mixers will get warm when over worked but unless heavy smoke was coming out and you were getting a burning enamel smell it is probably OK. Let it cool and try it but I suggest you not use it for bread any more.

Used the bread kneading hook, after 10 minutes, smoking

The mixer motor has probably overheated, as proper use and care was not being followed with the stand mixer.

Bread doughs are recommended to be mixed on speed 2 only and never for longer than 7 minutes. With the resistance of a bread dough that is provided against the beater, mixing for over 7 minutes may overheat mixer and cause smoking.

Please consult your use and care guide to refresh your memory about how to properly use your mixer for making bread doughs.

Hobart A200 noises

Hi, here is my opinion: 1) your planetary, or attachment hub is making the noise as it goes around, and there is grease in the gear ring that keeps it lubricated, it may be as simple as removing the planetary grease ring ( the chrome ring), and taking loose the bolt and lowering off the hub and cleaning the old grease, and installing new, reassemble in reverse. You may also have bad bearings in the shaft portion of the planetary ( the shaft your attachments go onto) allowing the shaft to "wobble" a little bit causing a slight misalignment as the smaller gear goes around while mixing. How far you want to go is up to you.
For your other problem, I have seen the brass clutch bearings stick on the main shaft in the transmission, causing the planetary to momentarily speed up, or to maintain a wrong speed ( 2nd or 3rd) when set to first, but that would require full disassembly of the transmission. Best left to someone who has done it before, but if your inclined, go for it, but get a part breakdown first, or take pics as you go. Hope at least some of that helps, and thank you.

K45 started smoking while mixing cookie dough

There is the possibility that if the mixer is 30 years old and it has never been serviced that the gasket around the gear case is leaking oil and in that case it would not be hard to get liquids on the armature or the stator as the gear grease in the transmission is vegetable base grease and it separates into liquids and solid and when the head is tilted up the failed gasket allows the separated oil to leak down and to the rear onto the mixer right onto the motor parts. It maybe nothing more that cleaning out all the old grease and re-packing and adding a new gasket.
