The coil is very exposed to weather, air and moist. Better cover the coil a foil. Clean it first with metal cleaner then cover it.

How old is the AC?: if the oxide is not too much just remove it with cleaner, if pipes are rottening, then you will need to replace lines.

I doubt that it is bad copper. It could be outgassing from the crematorium. you can get a coil cleaner spray, but that doesn't explain what caused it in the first place.

What would be causing what sulfur smelling exhaust smoke?

The Smell is-- Sulfur Dioxide-- from an over heated
Exhaust Converter

Yes-- it will be ruined soon

White Smoke all the time, could be a head gasket

It could also be-- lots of fuel-- that is overheating the converter

Have to look at fuel trim on scan tool data

2SO2 + O2 -------> V2O5 2SO3 which of the chemical symbols is the catalyst?

(s) + O2(g) -----> SO2(g)
The gases are mixed with more air then cleaned by electrostatic precipitation to remove any particulate matter
The mixture of sulfur dioxide and air is heated to 450oC and subjected to a pressure of 101.3 - 202.6 kPa (1 -2 atmospheres) in the presence of a vanadium catalyst (vanadium (V) oxide) to produce sulfur trioxide, SO3(g), with a yield of 98%.
2SO2(g) + O2(g) -----> 2SO3(g)

Our Maytag washer emit a rotten egg smell and the wet clothes also come out with this smell. What is causing this and how do we fix this issue?

Sounds like a sulfur-eating bacteria, you're smelling hydrogen sulfide. Are you on city water or do you have a well? Sulfur-eating bacteria can live in a well (as can iron-eating bacteria) and it might find a happy home in a washing machine too.

Since they live in an acidic environment (the hydrogen sulfide, dissolved in water, makes an acid) I would try a caustic first- bleach would be a good first bet.

If you have a well and the bacteria came from it then it'll come back. Consult with a local well drilling operation, they can tell you if you have bacteria in your well and how to deal with it in a locally acceptable fashion.

Just rented a home in the country the water smells like rotten eggs

Hydrogen Sulfide Gas can occur in wells, and gives the water a characteristic "rotten egg" taste or odor.

  • Install an activated carbon filter. This option is only effective for low hydrogen sulfide levels, The gas is trapped by the carbon filter is saturated.
  • Install an oxidizing filter, such as a "manganese greensand" filter. Manganese greensand filters are often used to treat iron problems in water. The device consists of manganese greensand media, which is sand coated with manganese dioxide. The hydrogen sulfide gas in the water is changed to tiny particles of sulfur as it passes through the filter. The filter must be periodically regenerated, using potassium permanganate, before the capacity of the greensand is exhausted.
  • Install an oxidation-filtration system. These systems utilize a chemical feed pump to inject an oxidizing chemical, such as chlorine, into the water supply line prior to a storage or mixing tank. When sufficient contact time is allowed, the oxidizing chemical changes the hydrogen sulfide to sulfur, which is then removed by a particulate filter, such as a manganese greensand filter.

    2003 buick rendezous windows frost up, motor seem to heat up ok 195+, all ready install new stat. getting hard to see here in Minn

    Actually the defrosters rely on the airconditioning evaporator coil to remove moisture by freezing it on the coil, kind of a dehumidifying effect. The heater will still put out warm air while it does this. If your airconditioning system doesnt work, chances are the defroster wont be very effective.

    I have a 2002 Chevy Tracker with a sulfur smell. It passed the e test and has no engine codes. It is worse climbing hills but has no power loss.

    Hydrogen sulfide in the exhaust, which is produced by trace amounts of sulfur in gasoline. It's supposed to be converted to sulfur dioxide in your catalytic converter.

    This may be indicative of a fuel-injection problem, and can be cured by a sharp mechanic.

    But often it means a failed catalytic converter.

    YES THIS ISSUE THAT YOU HAVE MOST PEOPLE DO NOT BELIEVE EXISTS BUT IT DOES AS YOU KNOW

    The solve for the solution is to spray paint all of the copper tubing at the compressor connections , and any of the tubing that you can even if it means laying the machine down on its back to get to them black enemel spray paint will work you choose gloss or satin. it keeps the sulfur gas from attacking the copper

    btw take a look at other items in the house that have copper in them light fixtures light swithes recepticals, air conditioning coils
    bet that they are tarnished
