Question about Alps MD 1000 Thermal Printer

1 Answer

Alps MD 5000

After a recent move, the first time I tried to print something, I got an error message: "Changer error". The printer powers up normally and the "Ready" green light comes on, signaling that all the electronics are fine, however, when I click on the "print" button and the printer tries changing the order of the cartridges, it doesn't complete the change, because the cartridge seems to gets stack to the printing head - at that time the error message pops up. Hi, have all the symptoms of the problem as well as the ERROR message.. Hoping for a suggestion/recommendation for the remedy...Thanks

When you moved, did you secure the print head and remove the ink cartrdiges? A Changer Error message is bad. Check the changer for any broken or bent parts.

SOURCE: Do you repair Alps MD 5000 printer

Unfortunately, this website is not a repair shop, but I'll give you what help I can....

Printhead problems are not repairable in the US or Europe any longer. You best bet is to upgrade to an MD-5500, which you can find here: http://www.alps-supplies.com

Did you pack the printer correctly before moving? When you got the printer, it would have had a packing piece preventing any carriage movement. If you did not put this in place before packing the printer for the move, you have most likely damaged the printer beyond repair.

SOURCE: White ink printing with alps MD 5000

To print white, you need to use the spot color option in the printer properties. The object to be printed must be all black. It seems counter to what you might think, but the spot color mode will print the solid black areas as the selected spot color.

It could be a serious error with the cartridge changer. Take a close look at the chagner for anything that looks bent or mis-aligned. Also, may sure all of the positioning sensors are clean.

My alps md 5000 doesnt seem to be printing decals as clear as it

these printers are flaky. There is a reason why the mainstream never picked ALPS up. The image quality stinks and the printer break down constantly. Koolaid drinkers in search of the grail love them.

Cartridge changer error can be bad. Inspect and clean the changer. Try changing the order of the cartridges in the holder. Any effect? With just the black cartridge installed, try printing an internal self print test. Does that work?

PLEASE HELP! Error Light blinks when powered up!

Inyadrms, Did the printer get hit or bumped around while in storage? The motor and alignment errors are bad. If you are mechanically inclined, remove the cover and look for broken parts or missing teeth on the gears. While you have the cover off, give it a good dusting
