For error 4014 On the PC go to palmone/user...../ and rename the "exchange" directory to .old When you hotsync again it will work without the error and will create an empty directory. Worked for me with my new LifeDrive and TomTom software. For error 4004 The only thing that worked for me.. Was to do a hard re-set and then to reload each non-Palm problem, one by one, checking each time to see that I didn't get that same 4004 error message. This was time-consuming, but it worked.

Many factors can influence the synchronization process. you will have to go step by step from this: http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(25004) Good luck.

Older palm products and vista aren't compatible. You either needs to transfer info via bluetooth or upgrade your palm if you wish to continue using vista.

Hot sync problem with bookmarks

I think the computer overwrites the handheld. You could avoid this by following this steps:
- right click hotsync icon on Windows system tray
- choose "custom"
- double-click the application you need to change
- and change it to "handheld overwrites desktop"

Just that simple :)

Sprint treo 650

hi, on the hotsync software (palm desktop) there normally is an option were you can decide what to sincronise and what not. if you go to hotsync (on the top next to tools)and then choose personalise, then look for the calendar and click change, choose the one you think is correct. dave ;)

Try to change conduits to hotsync with PDS, if it will work then the problem is with the MSOutlook.

Original sync worked all others failed with 650 and Outlook 2003

I was ready to give up completely. Uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing worked. Here is what I did to resolve sync errors: 1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm 2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old. 3. Connect the Treo to your computer. 4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom. Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld. 5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now. This worked for me. I hope it helps with your errors.

Deleting Outlook contacts

FileZ file utility lets you delete the AddressDB on your Treo Your best bet would probably be to wipe the Contacts database on your Treo 650, then re-sync. 1. Install FileZ on your Treo 650, Why? Because the Contacts DB is not accessible from the built-in system; you need this extra file manager to delete it. 2. Launch FileZ and find this item: AddressDB. 3. Tap on AddressDB to add a checkmark next to it. Hit Details. Hit Delete. 4. DON'T HOTSYNC YET! Just in case, export your Outlook Contacts and store in a safe place. You'll be syncing to a blank address DB on your 650, and although it shouldn't overwrite your Outlook data wwith the blank DB ... better safe than sorry. 5. Now you can HotSync to Outlook.

Corrupt Date Book Fixed

Updated Instructions Simple fix for a corrupted Date Book sync error (at least it worked for me on my Treo 650). 1). Turn off 'Show Calendar Event' in the Phones 'Options - General Preferences' menu. 2). Turn off phone. 3). Set the Date/Time to the maximum limits (12/31/31) in Preferences. 4). Open the Calendar and view the maximum day 12/31/31. 5). Select 'Purge - (Delete events older then 1 week)' in the Calendars Options menu. 6). Reset the Date/Time to the current day in Preferences. 7). Hotsync (Desktop Calendar overwrites handheld). 8). Hotsync again to make sure you don’t get the error (Synchronize the files). That’s it. =============================== Outlook Calendar The attempt to open the database failed. Date Book application database is not found. Please invoke the Date Book application on the handheld once and re-synchronize.
