I had the same problem. Turned out the Child Lock was on. Push the Child Lock button on the remote (it's below the 0 key) and that should fix the problem.

My Samsung monitor displays the message "Not optimum mode; recommended mode 1920x1080 60 hertz - Analog" - whenever I try to boot in a Safe Mode (WinXP). It works fine in a normal mode as well as in VGA...

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel in Microsoft Windows by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window, open Display.
Note: Depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the Display icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.
  3. In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab.
  4. Toward the bottom of this window, click on the Advanced button.
  5. In the resulting window, which may or may not be tittled Plug and Play Monitor..., click on the Monitor tab.
  6. Locate the Screen refresh rate drop down box in the middle of the window. Under most circumstances, the best choice is the highest rate available. Depending on your issue though, the rate may need to be lowered.
Note: It is always recommended to keep the Hide modes that this monitor cannot display checkbox checked. Choosing refresh rates outside this range could damage hardware.
  7. Click the OK or Apply button to confirm the changes. If prompted, follow any additional on screen directions.

I have a 2 in 1 VHS/DVD player. It is a GO VIDEO DV1130. When I press the eject button, nothing happens. The tray doesn't budge. I currently have a DVD in the machine as we speak. The DVD itself works...

Sounds like you've got a problem with either the Drive Motor, Drive Controller or Drive Belt.

It could be an easy fix but it depends on the where the fault is.

Does it make any noise or effort to open the tray?

If yes then its the Drive Belt thats either slipping or broken.

If you remove the top cover and then the cover off the DVD you'll see the drive belt at the front. If it's still in one piece then you can just remove it and get one a few mm smaller.

PC monitor has blue USER MODE box that flashes and cannot get rid of it

The blue screen of death is incredibly frustrating. Windowsmag-glass_10x10.gif gives you an option called Safe Mode for whenever there is an internal Windows problem on your PC that needs to be resolved such as the blue screen of death or the display driver setting resolution is so low that you cannot navigate through Windows to alter the settings to a higher resolution. Safe mode allows the user to fix problems without these problems loading up.
  1. tep 1 Reboot your PC. If you can't restart normally by going to the start up menu, then hold in the power button for a few minutes. If you need to enter safe mode but can restart normally, do so.
  2. Step 2 After the hard drivemag-glass_10x10.gif mounts but BEFORE Windows starts to load, Press the F8 key repeatedly on your keyboard. If you do not get the menu with the safe mode option, then you did not begin tapping F8 soon enough. Try again.
  3. Step 3 There will be a menu that will appear. Select Safe Mode. Once you are in safe mode, you can fix what needs to be fixed without the problems loading up on your machine.

Error: Cannot Display This Video Mode

You may have to boot into safe mode and reset the video settings to a safe setting like 1024x768.

  1. To get into safe mode, continuously press F8 while the computer is booting up.
  2. Eventually you will get a Windows XP Boot Menu.
  3. Choose the option for Safe Mode.
  4. Go to Start, Control Panel and double-click Display.
  5. On the Settings tab, drag the slider bar to 1024x768.
  6. Click OK
  7. Shut down and reboot.
If the problem goes away, then you are good. Otherwise, you'll have to boot menu again (F8) and choose Enable VGA Mode.

I have a FPD 1830 flat screen monitor not displaying picture

Send the monitor. It's a power supply problem. My 15.4" LCD has the problem, too, whenever I move the monitor down, it powers off, and the menu disappears as well, but I'm going to fix the screen.
