This is not a projection tv.

The picture is drawing in on both ends. It has gradually gone from l inch to 4 inches on each side.

I report my posts from other thread:

start going to the video settings menu and do a reset check page 33 of user manual here .

If you are using the TV connected to a computer, see also PC mode control to set display width at page 62

Try doing the reset suggested above, see if they work, leave also the TV unplugged for few hours tonight.

Generally, if the bands appear only for some times , then image expands regularly it is a faulty IC or capacitor, that works fine only after it warms up.
I work on PC monitors etc.I have not serviced your model yet, and I don't have the service manual to follow the troubleshooting diagrams to locate faulty area on the board, test parts and find defective one.

If you want to DIY here is the service manual.

Here you get all parts for your TV.

If you want to call a technician there is a number listed at the end of the user manual.

If I find any free schematics I will post here.

Sounds like a issue or problem with the optical light engine in the set, it is of course the most expensive part.

Sounds like a convergance issue. I would have a tech set the convergance for you if you have not done it before, it can be tricky and you could make worse.

Rca 52 inch projection looks like 3-d movie

Open up the back, the convergence ICs are large and attached to a heat sink. They should be marked STKxxx. In most cases, replacing the ICs is enough. Sometimes the feeder resistor fails because of too much current draw. Change the ICs before looking for more parts. Also, try resoldering the ICs. Bad connections can cause this problem as well.

1) In customer menu, adjust all video controls to center, then
increase "picture" to 3/4
2)Locate focus/screen adjust block above chassis...adjust
RGB screen controls for best mixture = B/W tracking..
Check with customer color level at minimum..should look gray.
If you turn screen controls up too much, you will see faint
re-trace lines in picture.....once B/W looks good,put color level
back to middle...................................................T.

it sounds as if there are speakers to close to the tv or the built in speakers are not magnetically sheilded properly (maufacturer defect) if u have or have ever had speakers on the left and right side of your tv then the magnets in them will discolor and distort the screen. sometimes even long after the speakers have been moved away from the tv it will still look that way. you may try going to the library( or online )and looking in tv repair books on how to build a homade degauser unless your tv has that feature built into it in the menu somewhere like some computer monitors do. I had placed the front speaker of a 5.1 surround sound system on top my tv and it cuased that same problem, but i found out that by placing a small round magnet with a hole in the center on top of the tv (after removing the speaker for good) right where the discoloration was.. had to flip it one side or the other to get proper effect...it immediatly took away most of the discoloration and over time it disappeared. I hope this helps. Please email me at agclay777@comcast.net as to your conclusion in case it will help others. thanks, Adam
