Legacy programs often do not run on Vista. However, once you install them there are a few options. First of all, go to the program websites and see if they have Vista upgrades. If not, right-click on the program icon and select properties. On the properties screen, select the compatibility tab and select Windows XP SP2. That often works. Also, you may have to right-click on the icon and select run as administrator.

Most programs written for Windows XP also work in this version of Windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not at all. If an older program doesn't run correctly, use the Program Compatibility Wizard to simulate the behavior of earlier versions of Windows.
• Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.
NoteTo find out if your programs (or programs you plan to buy) are compatible with Windows Vista, go online to the Windows Vista Compatibility Center. This website contains a comprehensive list of programs, computers, and devices that have been tested to work with Windows Vista.

I bought a vista and did not think of my sew-ware 2.0 its not compatible but any solutions to remedy my problem

Yes, you can try running the program in "compatiblity" mode. Right-click the executable for the program (you'll have to browse to it, most likely under "Program Files") and do the following:

- click "properties"
- click "compatiblity" tab
- check "run this program..."
- select "Windows 2000"
- click "apply", then "ok"

Try to run the program and see if it works. If not, you have three options...get an updated version of the program that's Vista-compatible, remove Vista and put XP back on the system, or give up using the program

Hope this helps :)

This means this program not compatible with Vista.

You need to uninstall the program, and reboot the system.

Now there is a way to install with XP compatibility, 80% of the time this will work. (if this does not work, you will just have to find the version of the program that works with Vista)

To install with XP compatibility:
Running the Vista Program Compatibility Wizard 1) Click on Start
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Click on Programs
4) Click on Use an older program with this version of Windows.
5) Then just follow the instructions in the Wizard.

Insert the installation disc for the program. Open the Compatibility Wizard. In the Wizard, browse to the program's setup file (Setup.exe, Install.exe, etc.)
