Make sure there are no hidden screws , top and bottom of remote snap together, usually top snaps over bottom so you have to slide something between halves and push in on bottom or pull out on top to get them to seperate.
MECH ERROR or "MECHanical Communication ERROR" When this message is displayed on cd player, indicates
that there is a problem with cd player that has do with the mechanism
which is jammed up.
You will need to take off and open up your player and clean out the dust inside.
