My CD player will not stay on. (by 2 users)

My CD player will not stay on. It will turn on and say loading then cut off. I can not figure out what is wrong.

My bf's used CD player does the same exact thing, and it has nothing to do with needing a lense cleaner, because the radio won't come on, nothing will come on. It will just say loading and then press the display and it will show the time and that's it. He has only the power connected, and I don't know a lot about installing CD players in cars...

1. Clean the lens. Use only a special CD lens cleaner and follow the instructions carefully. (Avoid CD-cleaning discs with brushes attached. Some can damage the lens-suspension system.)
2. make sure the CD is properly loaded and not scratched.
