Try cleaning the cd under tap water (yes under the tap), and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth, if this does not work the CD is faulty.

when a CD is not read, it means that the CD is either dirty or scatched or faulty.

If it is dirty you can clean it in cold water, as suggested above. If it is scratched or faulty there is nothing to do at user level to recover the data inside.

Check also if your CD unit is reading other CDs, if the unit is not reading any CD, then you have a lens problem.

Additionally, if computer starts running a program, and then returns an error message, the program may not be compatible with Vista. Check that the software on CD is compatible with Vista Operative System.

At startup, screen flashes blue, but will not stay open long enought to read. continues to enter setup. nothing will open vista program fron there. only repeats steps

Hi,
If the Operating System Restore CD finishes and the computer reboots and ejects the CD and it still doesn't work, the problem could be with your hard drive.

If the computer powers off on its own unexpectedly, the problem could be with your power supply.

Replacing these parts can be done in most cases using only a screwdriver to remove the case screws on the computer, opening the case, then unplugging the old unit and plugging in the new one in the same spot.

Clean the CD. Take a soft clean cloth and rub the CD up-down and right-left. Not in circular way that we are used to. Then restore again.

I have a emachines T5088 and it won`t load past the welcome screen

Have you added new software lately? This will sometimes cause conflicts with software already on the computer. I recently fixed a similiar problem by reinstalling windows and then removing a software program that had just been installed before the freeze-up.
