Question about Denon SCAV-F100 System

Open Question

Denon F100 Mini Hi Fi - Subwoofer wont power up

I disconnected my system, & now my SCAV F100 Active Sub Woofer wont power up.
This active Sub-woofer is basically the same as the Mission FS2

There is no visible fuse inside. I cant believe I could have "blown" it just by disconnecting/ reconnecting.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
First, Try the "defective" woofer in the cabinet that works well to be sure the woofer is OK.
If the woofer sounds good in the other cab, look to the power amplifier board : you have to test 2 fuses and 2 transistors witch are connected to the fuses : a defective transistor let your subwoofer work fine to half power, but distortion appear if you push away...

SOURCE: M-Audio StudioPhile DX4 4'' Woofer

The "voice coil" inside the woofer must be rubbing against the "yolk" plate. Meaning = it is mechanically blown(damaged) to a point but electrically intact.
My sugesstion is to take out the damaged woofer and "google" for a mew woofer with the correct impendance and size and mounting holes. If you dont know thw impendance, then you should go with at least 8 ohms. More ohms = less risk of overloading the amp. whick can cause a fire!

Good Luck!!

How do you power up the sattelite speakers without the subwoofer?

Depends on the type of sound system. Some require you to hook up to the subwoofer then the subwoofer to the sound system, others are just a direct line in to the sound system (in which case simply un hook the sub woofer. If it requires hook ups to the woofer, see if you can turn the volume down on the woofer directly.

4 ohm and 8 ohm speakers

You can plug in higher ohm speakers , the higher the ohm the higher the resistance is, it is a danger when you plug lower ohm speakers into a higer ohm Amp , at a high volume that will cause them to blow , the center speaker would be fine to use a higer ohm speaker , your best choice is to buy a Active Subwoofer, which means the sub has it's own power supply , and u can blast the thing as much as u like , thn u can turn the bass down on all the other speaker's so u can play it louder , and have the sub turned up has high as u like , this is the best way to get great sound with high volume , buy a Active sub woofer , any active subwoofer is ok , a active sub woofer has its own volume and inputs on the speaker ,

Hello Guys,Can you please help? can I replace the sub woofer on my sony home theatre system DAV-DZ231 with a Celestion sub woofer s10

Presumably, the Celestion subwoofer is self-powered in which case it would connect to an RCA subwoofer output on your Sony system if there is one.

MX6050D Subwoofer Issues

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

Fault is either from the main system or the sub-woofer itself.

You need to test both unit in order to detect which of the two is giving the fault, so that you can concentrate on the faulty unit.

Test the woofer with a AA battery or any other battery. Put your ears close to the woofer and observe if you will hear any sound. If the woofer makes sound, then it means the woofer is working, but if it doesn't make sound, then it means the woofer is defective. Or you can disconnect one of the working speakers and connect the woofer to that part. If there is no sound, then obviously, the woofer is defective.

If the woofer seem to be working, then the unit needs to be tested also.

Connect one of the working speakers to the sub-woofer's section of the main unit. If the speaker doesn't bring out sound, check the system's menu settings, check the volume and make sure the sub-woofer volume is raised to the highest level and not on mute. ( Note that most Theater systems has separate volumes for each speakers). If the volume is raised to the highest level and there is still not sound from the woofer part, then it means the woofer channel has burnt. It could be a fuse or a defective channel. At this point, I think you need help from a repairman.

I hope the above is clear.

Regards.

I have a Bose powered sub woofer, which I would like to connect to a pioneer receiver, the subwoofer (model 2683) connection has a four pronged connection (yellow white red blank) and the receiver has a...

Hi,sorry but you can not connect it directly like other sub-woofers..
Bose 2683 Powered Subwoofer is part of Bose Lifestyle 5 system, Please note that you will need the 5-pin DIN cable that connects the subwoofer to the base or "Music Center". and the 4 pronged connections for its own stereo speaker output not input from another stereo..
Sorry....but if you can arrange some handy man nearby ,he may get into the DIN cable to locate the subwoofer signal 2x input leads than you can use that leads for connecting into single sub woofer out let of your system...otherwise try to sell BOSE which can easily buy brand new up to date powered sub..
.

How to hookup

hi,
if u want to hook up the sub with ur av receiver the connect the sub woofer output of ur AVR to any one (left or right) input of ur sub woofer. then connect its power . set the frequency range between 90 and 120Hz. set the volume of sub woofer to 40% of its total. also check the av receives speaker setting. goto speaker setup and make ON the sub woofer out.

if want to connect the sub to a stereo amp without sub out. then connect the amps speaker line to the speaker input of sub woofer and connect the speaker out of sub to left and right speaker ( make sure to connect the red to red and black to black). set the volume and frequency as above
ok

Open up the back of your gale 3080 and check the 2 fuses situated near the transformer. They look like 2 silver cylindrical shapes.Check that they have not blown if they have the will cost you around £2 to replace.Better than the 50 quid you will pay when you take it to your hi fi dealer to open up the back of it.
