Re: door wont latch shut
Is there a dl code? If not note the door striker position as the door closes. If you have to push it shut you need a door lock and if the striker is hitting below the latch too much a hinge will fix it. Finally look for a black pin above the striker for any damage as the latch will need to be replaced if broken too. Because with this and a door hanging low will not close the circuit and the ccu will believe the door is open also.

Grounding in a 120vac environment usually will cause a big spark and pop the circuit breaker. There is a possibility the latch is like a car door latch. If it somehow gets moved to the shut or latched position when the car door is open, it will never close and latch . The latch must be returned to it's normal door open position so that when closed it will latch securely.
Your machine's latch may be blocked by something acting like the car door latch described above. It may be the switch has broken and is the "culprit".
My name is mike, thanks for directing your question to me. First of all Your latch needs to be replaced. If it is not working proper it also triggers that machine door is not closed so of course it wont start. Here is a site link that might help you some as well.
Hi there - mmm the door locking mechanism may be crook - the only other possbity is the mechanical latch could be faulty - give this a quick try close & hold the door in and initiate a cyle to see if it locks - if it locks then the latching device is busted which may or not be field serviceable.
Miele item #4747471 is the latch unit & #4842085 is a 220/240V door lock not sure about a 110/120V part number.
there is a switch in the door latch that tells the unit the door is closed so it can start to operate if there is a fault or a peace of the latch has broken off the unit will read door open check the latch for any broken off peaces if it looks good replace the inter lock unit on the machine
Check to see if one of the two tabs on the door latch assembly are broken. If one is broken, replace the door latch. If the door latch is ok, you might have to replace the door switch and the door latch. To replace the door switch you have to remove the front panel. Remove the two screws holding the door switch assembly in place and drop the door switch assembly down into the bottom of the washer. Remove the wires and transfer to the new switch. Reach up and line up the new switch and install the two screws. Remove the two screws on the door latch assembly on the door, and remove old door latch. Install the new latch and replace the front panel. I hope this helps.
