Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you have the brush control set to 'Hard floors'.

However, if you find the brushbar won't rotate when you've reclined the cleaner into the vacuuming position, and have the brush control set to 'Carpets', it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

I fitted a new belt. Green light is on so brush is spinning. As I lower the head the brush slows to a stop as it contacts carpet.

There are much quality differences in belts but the foot pedal with arrow is made to set the hightbecarefully because of easy broken pedals . but if the brush is setting on the deepest stand then its not rotating anymore and the brush stands still. its very easy how you can disassemble the brush and can place them in 3 differend levels in height ? on the grey bearing holders outside of the brush there are 3 different indications l and ll and lll the best is to set so that the carpet if its a thin one the brush must setting just lower then the suction mouth so that the brush are more coming out so deeper come out of this suction mouth so that the suction mouth has made a little more distance from the carpet because when the brush rotate to deep insite the suction mouth .1 the tension of the belt on the brush is lower and .2 the suction mouth sucks vaccuum on the carpet and the brush doesnt rotate because of the force of suction power, play around with the different heights you find the right level.

When taking the handle/wand back to use it seems to lose the suction power regardless of what setting I use. Upon several times of standing it back up it seems to engage the suction power correctly is...

When you say taking handle back I assume you mean the action to start rotation of brushes. Had simular problem and found by removing brush from tube and then cleaning "baked on rubbish" in plastic tube (so you can see clearly through tube) Clean with stiff brush and also making sure brush drive belt housing is also clean and allows brush to rotate square to housing did improve the suction power.
I assume you have cleaned all filters by wahing under running water and applying a little pressure to remove water and attached dirt?

No suction

If the belt is stretched, then it can't turn the brush rol under load, if you haven't chenged it in the last 6 months, then I would put a new one one. Also check the dirt inlet by the brush roll for a blockage.
