Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Leaking dishwasher My GE dishwasher leaks when running a load of dishes. The leak seems to be coming from about the middle of the tub about halfway back. I can't see exactly where it's coming from, but it appears to be dripping right behind the motor. Could it be a poor connection? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Bob Engle I do not seem to be able to find the model number

GE dishwasher is 7.5 years old and started leaking as mentioned in earlier post. On examination, all the plastic parts in the motor area are sticky and disintegrating or have disintegrated totally (the strainer grate by the food cutter). I have replaced the plastic boot, and the whole kit going from the cutter to the motor. Waiting for parts to replace the plastic parts going from the cutter to the motor. Disgusted with the durabilty and planned obsolecence of this dishwasher.

Probably a leak at the motor seal where it enters the tub. Best to remove the motor if you can and inspect the seal.

GE Dishwasher Quiet Power III Dishwasher leaking

The average life of dishwashers is 7-10 ten years so it might just be dying but try this. If the leak is a small one that seems to always be near the left side of the dishwasher put a cup of white vinager in the upper rack and run the unit on pots & pans or heavy duty. This is caused by a build up of detergent that make the unit oversuds, when the suds turn back into water it leaks out the left front corner. The amount of water is not huge, one towel to clean up. If the leak is larger it could be the pump is leaking and you can order a new one with your model # from marcone.com

My GE dishwasher is leaking out the bottom of the front door. Everything seems to be sealed properly. I took the inside of the door off and couldn't find anything obvious. Is it possible to be overflowing...

You most likly need a new bottom door seal. Usually 3 screws down each side of the door and then two screws hold the bottom door seal in place. The bottm door seal can look fine but if its leaking out the bottom front this is the problem 99 % of the time, Unless someone is using dish soap to preclean the dishes or using regular in the dishwasher.

I have water leaking under my dishwasher (probably right in the middle). I put a paper plate underneath to catch the water during the cycle. There seems to be some "soap scum" on the bottom where it is...

Hello there
Here is several ideas that will help you
also (fyi) type in search engine how things work and once it opens just enter dishwasher and it will bring you to the dishwasher section ok?
here it is

  • Inspect the seals for the main tub, float, heating element and blower diffuser
  • Check for overfilling
  • Inspect the water and drain hoses

  • Check the water inlet valve
  • Check the pump
Water or soap leaks around the door
  • Make certain that your detergent is intended for dishwashers. Do not use liquid dish soap.

We have a GE Dishwasher Model # GSD 2000 Z02AD - water leaks

If your dishwasher leaks, check these:Main tub seal
Door gasket or seal
Water-inlet valve
Hoses

Main tub seal
Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the:

1. Lower rack
2. Spray arm
3. Spray arm support
4. Wash/drain impellers

Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal
Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve
The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses
Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.
