This is a yes or no problem and it does not make sense for me to have to pay to just get an answer whether my TV is in compliance or not. Just cancel my question. I am elderly and cannot afford to pay for a yes or no. I'll find out some other way. cs

Power died. TV was running then there was a short hiss followed by a pop and the tv died. Is it just a power unit problem. ie like replacing a computer CPU when it dies.

No,more complicated than that. The whole 2 ICS set of chips, must be replaced, near the FBT-the Flyback transformer, that the big block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook into the CRT-(tv tube). The out wall of the FBT-the flyback transformer the "H" horizontal transistor output probally dead too.Require replacing too.Now analongue tvs are defective, components parts are not much available anymore,if the analogue tvs are more than five years old.Time to upgraded to a HD tvs.

I have a sony trinitron wega tv model number KV-32FS120 and I was wondering if it is digital ready or do I need to get a converter box

This television receiver has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009, to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the U.S.'s transition to digital broadcasting. Analog-only TVs should continue to work as before with cable and satellite TV services, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products.

The tv screen is moving really fast

This is your VSync. On older TVs, there is a dial you can adjust to hold the image in place. Do this only if all channels are appearing with the same vertical movement.

HD tv changes

The changes that you mention will only effect you if you use either rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. The over-air broadcast signals are being changed from analog to digital. If you have cable or satelite service, there will be no change.

Question about going digital in Feb 2009

if you have Comcast you should be fine. The only TVs that need converter boxes are the old fashion ones with the bunny ear antennas.

Will this TV work after February '09?

The manual can be found here: http://www.replacementremotes.com/store/downloadpdf.cfm?productid=35830

As for the DTV issue, your television will require the converter box. You can get a coupon to reduce it's cost from the United States Government Webpage and print it off.

2009 scare

The change to digital in 2009 affects TVs on an antenna only.
If you use cable or satellite than you need to do nothing, regardless of how old your tv is.

Digital TV Signal

Not if you cable TV, DirecTV, Dish network, or FIOS. The converters are not usable with those services.

If you use a regular TV antenna or rabbit ears, then, yes, you will need a DTV converter box. If so, I'd suggest getting one well before next February. Why? 'Cause the pictures are better, and you'll have access to "virtual channels", where broadcasters send more than one program on channels like 4.1, 4.2, etc. Also, if you have poor reception, you may need a better antenna to see the DTV signals. Better to know that before DTV is all that is being broadcast over the airwaves.
