Is it growling at you? That is a sign of dry bearings. You can sometimes bring em back with a little lubrication. I wrote about it and posted some photos Here

My Kenmore Dryer, Mdl #86681800 won't start when hot

The most likely reason it that the electric motor is failing; the thermal protector on the motor is resetting after the motor cools down. The buzzing is due to a locked rotor in the motor while it is overheated.

Another much less likely possibility is that there is excessive drag on the drum causing the motor to overheat because it is working too hard spinning the drum. Excess drag is due to worn rollers, etc.

Try rotating the drum in the CORRECT direction by hand and see if it seems really hard to rotate. You can try this on a friend or relatives machine to see how much drag is normal.

To determine which way is the correct rotation, just start the dryer, open the door and look fast! To test, just turn it in the same direction as it was rotating before it stopped.

Dryer makes a buzzing noise when I turn it on but it doesn't come on, just buzzes.

Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. Rotate the drum 2-3 revolutions and then shut the door and see if it will start. If it continues to just hum and not start could indicate a voltage issue, motor issue or a friction issue. Open the door again and locate the door switch plunger in the upper or lower corner on the hinge side of the drum opening. Hold the plunger in while someone begins rotating the drum counterclockwise. While turning the drum counter clockwise and holding the door switch plunger inwards press the start button. If it starts, there is likely a friction problem or motor problem.
What is the model number?

Dryer won't restart breakers ok door switch funtional but when i press srart button just buzzes......... suggestions?

Reach inside and try to turn the drum. If it is stiff you could have a bad roller or support bearing depending on your model. I have all kinds of dryer manuals HERE

I have a Maytag LSE1000. The dryer and washer each have an issue at the moment. The dryer intermittently won't engage when it is turned in. When you press the "regular" button to start it,...

I really have NO idea what's causing your Maytags to misbehave, BUT I can tell you that the Maytag service centers have always been very accommodating when I've called about problems with dishwashers, dryers, and washing machines. They have explained the construction of the appliance and even told me the type of tools I needed to make repairs! If you still have your owner's manual, the toll free number should be in there. I hope this helps!

My dryer is not working and only making a buzzing noise when i press the start button

is the buzz more like a growl? if so, you probably have a bad motor. if it is truly a buzz, then try turing your timer to a different cycle. if the problem continues, replace the timer

Drum will not turn and there is no heat.

This dryer has a circuit board that controls virtually everything. If it makes a buzzing noise when you press the power button to turn on the control panel, it's probably not going to be an easy fix. When you hire a professional, you avoid buying expensive parts that you might not need, such as a control board. If it makes a loud buzzing noise when you press the start button, it's possible that it could be a motor or belt problem. But again, I'd recommend a service call for this one.

Amana gas dryer wont start. just makes a faint buzzing noise

The drive motor starting capacitor is likely dead. This can be tested if you are competent enough to take the thing apart and use an electronic multimeter. Otherwise it is a cheap part to replace, depending on how much the repair guy charges for labor and to be called out.
