Access your router by opening a browser and in the address bar, type 192.168.1.1 - username leave it blank, password is admin

click on wireless then wireless security - from the drop-down choose WPA2 Personal, key-in desired password for your wireless network in the WPA Shared Key field then click Save Settings button.

then on your computer, you will need to reconnect to your wireless network & it'll ask you for the password.

How can i block intruder?

If the Wireless device isn't secured, Secure it. Set up a SSID and Security Key(password). If it is secured, change the Security Key(password), Use the Linksys Setup Manual found here: http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT120N Always Secure your Wireless. If unsecure your signal, at best, COULD be use by anyone to connect to the web using your resources and slowing down your activity. At worst, use your signal for nefarious purposes causing you a great deal of Pain and Heartache, and MAYBE the FBI knocking at your door.

Wireless Network Reset and Setup - Linksys

If you are unable to connect your laptop wireless to your Linksys wireless access point/router, the easiest and fastest way to get going is to reset your router to the factory defaults. This will make your router work like the day you bought it.

There are 2 steps involved Reset your router, Setup/Secure a new router

Reset your router:

  • Unplug your DSL/Cable modem from power (not your access point/router) Leave this unplugged for now

Next
  • On the rear of your Linksys router you will find a small RESET button
  • With the power still on the router, Press and hold (with a pin/pen tip) the RESET button for 30 seconds.
  • Release the RESET button a wait 15 seconds for the router to reboot

almost done....
  • Unplug your Linksys router from power
  • Plug your DSL/Cable modem back in to power
  • Wait 1 minute for the modem to boot up
  • Be sure the ethernet (cat5) cable from your modem is securely plugged into the WAN port on the back of your Linksys router. This is usually labeled WAN or Internet above the jack
  • Plug your Linksys router back into power.

You will now be able to connect to the internet with your wireless device. I would advise that you follow the next steps in securing your wireless network.

Setup/Secure a new router

Log into your router
  • Type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and hit enter
  • In the login fields (case sensitive):
  • Username: leave_this_field_blank
  • Password: admin
  • Click OK

Once in the web interface for your router
  • Click Wireless tab - Basic Wireless Settings
  • Find the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field
  • change this to your new network name (this is the name you will see when you connect through your wireless device)
  • Find the Wireless Channel field
  • Change this from 6 (default) to 1 or 11

  • Click on Wireless Security
  • Find the Security Mode field
  • Choose WPA2 - Personal
  • WPA Algorithm choose AES
  • WPA Shared Key type in your new password you will use to connect to your network

Click Save Changes and your router will now reboot. You will now need to enter in that same password (WPA Shared Key) when you first connect with your laptop to your wireless network

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.
To secure your router with a login password and wireless security, please follow my instructions - click on this link :-

Should you need further assistance, please leave me a comment.

Unable to use Wireless Security Option when using multiple PCs

Just try to enable your security in WEP mode instead of WPA mode and then try to connect,it should connect as WPA encryption is not supported by windows ME.

Secure network connection

Standard WPA security will work just fine. You can configure your wireless setup via the web interface for the router. Here's a link to the Linksys website, where there is step-by-step documentation on how to do this. Basically, you just set up a key (a password) in the router, and any system trying to connect via wi-fi has to have that key to get in. It is highly unlikely anyone can hack this, if you use a resonably sized key (8 characters, minimum).

Don't be afraid - wi-fi setup is very simple, and should only take you about 5 minutes. To open the web interface to the router, type "192.168.1.1" into the address bar. Leave the user name blank, and type "admin" for the password. You can (and should) change those later. The user guide has a very clear and concise checklist to follow for setting up wireless security. Follow it, and you will be fine.

Here's that link:
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=page%3D2%26cid%3D1115416835852%26c%3DL_Content_C1&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&SubmittedElement=Linksys%2FFormSubmit%2FProductDownloadSearch&portaltype=null&sp_prodsku=1175241407708

If that link doesn't work (long ones can be a problem), then just go to Linksys.com, select the download section, and put in your router model number.

Cheers

CAN'T cONNECT

You must set up the security settings that are in the laptop to match the settings in the router. These may be WEP, WAP, MAC address filtering or others. To change the settings in the router, you would used the web based interface. If you need more info:

Security

If you do not have wireless security enabled then anyone within the range of the radio transmitter will be able to use your internet access.

A G band router has about a maximum range of 300 feet which is greatly reduced by walls, wiring and other items in your home.

If your using a wireless laptop you can do a site survey by walking around outside your home to get an idea of the range your router has.
