My sound is, for lack of a better word, dragging or stuttering. Can't listen to music at all, not ever short tracks. Can I replace the on board sound card with a pci card? or is the on board card replaceable, or do I maybe need a power supply? Window XP Pro 32. Running 4gb memory.
I have updated all the drivers, cleaned the inside of the machine, don't know anything else to try.

Hi There, Audio stutters or freezing can be caused by more than a few things. Your computer may not have enough RAM - in which case, install more RAM. If you're running fifty things at once while trying to listen to music, that may the issue. Sometimes an incorrect driver can be the cause. Go to the dell website and update your audio driver for your specific model.
Are you using the 1/4 inch adapter- if so- make sure the mini plug is fully seated- you should feel 2 detents as you push the plug into the adapter- if you do not, you may be bridging the tip and ring colar with one channel and because it is not seated fully, it is not contacting the other channel at all.
Also make sure the plug for the headphones is fully seated into whatever device you are listening to. you should feel the 2 detents each time.
You can use ArcSoft ShowBiz which I have tried recently. Their new version ShowBiz 5 is great to add and edit multiple tracks including audio and video ones. You simply drag a music file to the interface and it is added to sound track auto, you drag the edges and the track is cut or spreaded. It's really cool.
If you have a PC with windows movie maker installed export your footage via USB2 into your video folder on PC then drag & drop or import your video into movie maker.Rip a CD music track in media player & drag & drop or import into movie maker.
turn down volume of original sound & replace with new soundtrack then publish the movie in format of your choice.
If you get stuck read movie makers help folder.
There is a vacuum line that runs under the manifold, it seems to be a very common problem.
Go to autozone, have it scanned with a OBD2 scanner and come back and post the trouble codes, also have the autozone guys look for a bad vacuum hose that comes off of the manifold, they might find it right away.
The Sony NWZ-S616F (4 GB) sometimes plays the musical tracks out of sequence. To check if the tracks are being played correctly, press the down arrow key ↓ at any time until the name of the book or music is selected. Then press the ► button and the tracks will show up. If they are in wrong order, select track 1 and press ►.
Scrolling is different for many of the different lists you'll see. In some lists, such as the Artists in the Music Player, you 'drag' the list up or down, by dragging the last or first items respectively.
In All Tracks, strangely, dragging the list doesn't work. You'll have to use the scrollbar on the right. As far as I've seen, dragging will not work if a scrollbar is present.
In most lists, scrolling with the jog dial on the back should also work. There are lists which don't respond to the jog dial, but that is usually when the volume would be changed instead (eg. browsing the playlist when listening to music).
But at least one of the above three should always work. Hope that helps.
THREE things to check and do
1. xp 2sp must have it!
2. The model designed for media player 10, or download imesh. is free and more faster than media player.
3. if it is full delete at least 2 songs from the database of the 512 mp3 player. It easily get crazy when is fully loaded
